Kalashnikov Concern Releases Civilian Version of Chukavin Sniper Rifle called MR1
The Chukavin Sniper Rifle (SVCh) is a DMR that was designed to replace the venerable SVD in the Russian military. We have covered the life of this rifle from its development history to its adventures in Russian military trials. Today, we’ll tell you about another event in this rifle’s life: Kalashnikov Concern has introduced the limited edition civilian version of SVCh rifle called MR1.
Russia to Start Mass Production of Chukavin Sniper Rifle (SVCh) Within Two Years
Back in 2016, Kalashnikov Concern officially introduced the SVCh Chukavin Sniper Rifle (Снайперская Винтовка Чукавина – СВЧ) which was initially called SVK. The gun was designed to replace the venerable SVD Dragunov Sniper Rifle, however, up until now, there was no information concerning in what scale and when it is planned to be supplied to the Russian military. In an interview given to Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Sergey Urzhumtsev, the chief engineer of Kalashnikov Concern, told that within the next two years, they will start the mass production of SVCh rifles which will be delivered to regiments throughout the Russian military.

The effort to deregulate of silencers has reached an important milestone: The Hearing Protection Act has made it out of committee, and been incorporated as part of another larger bill. House Resolution 3668 – the Sportsmen Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act – has been introduced to the House floor with a new subsection, Title XV, Hearing Protection. The new subsection provides for the change in classification of silencers from NFA items to standard firearms such as long guns, just like the HPA. Its text is reproduced at the bottom of this post.

Kalashnikov Concern recently released a new English language video regarding their PL-15K compact pistol, MP-444 pistol, AM-17 and AMB-17 compact assault rifles, and SVCh semiautomatic sniper rifle. Chukavin Sniper Rifle (SVCh) by Kalashnikov Concern
This rifle was earlier announced by the Kalashnikov Concern. It was initially called SVK. Recently, Kalashnikov has renamed the rifle to include the designer’s last name (Chukavin) into the designation of this firearm and revealed more details.
