[SHOT 2018] Magpul Suppressor Cover And 10 Rd Glock PMAGs

Just several days ago, Magpul announced their new suppressor cover. It was designed around the SureFire Socom suppressor. It helps keep to prevent the shooter from burning themselves in case you accidentally touch the suppressor. I was told the worst torture test is not full auto fire but slow semi auto fire with a shot every second. This allows the heat to soak more into the material of the suppressor. After 100 rounds the can gets to about 1300 F and you can still touch the suppressor cover.

More Magpul News! A Suppressor Cover

If you own a suppressor I’m sure you’ve noticed two things. One, it scratches easily and two, they can (pun intended) get really warm even with a bolt-action rifle. The heat can obviously burn you if you touch the suppressor, but as the heat accumulates and rises in front of your sight you will get a very irritating mirage that distorts your view of the target. (Wind can of course help with the mirage, but not so much with your ballistics if you’re shooting long range.)

One of these days I am going to ask a company like Cole-Tac to make me a suppressor cover for one of my rimfire silencers – for the mere fact that it just might look tacticool in pictures. If we are talking about rapid fire or precision rifle cans, however, a heat shield or a mirage cover is a practical necessity. Polymer giant Magpul as obviously noticed the market for quality heat resistant wraps and has recently applied for a patent for a suppressor heat shield and assembly.

Blue Alpha Gear & Cole-Tac | NRA 17

While at NRA Annual Meetings we ran into a couple of fans that had some of the nicest products in their respective areas of the industry. Blue Alpha Gear makes some of the nicest web gun belts in the industry for much less than the “cool guy approved” companies sell theirs for.
