Photo Of The Day: The SL40 grenade launcher is made by Steyr Mannlicher and was selected by Thales Australia as the preferred choice when the EF88 assault rifle was under development by the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Note that the soldier aims through what is most likely a red dot with a pretty tilted zero due to the ballistics of the 40 mm grenade.

In 1999 Steyr unveiled their first polymer frame semi-auto handguns, the Model M-A1 pistols.  Included in this lineup was the M9-A1 pistol that they so kindly sent over for me to review.  These pistols featured an on trigger safety system that Steyr called a “Reset Action Trigger”.  To top it all off, the pistols came equipped with Steyr’s patented triangular trapezoidal sighting system.

The highlight of any training within the military? Shooting fully automatic firearms for sure, as well as blowing things up, and in Today’s Photo, you can see soldiers of the Austrian Bundesheer working their issued Maschinengewehr 74.

There is a new upgraded Steyr Mannlicher SSG around the corner called the SSG M1 2018.

The German site All4shooters.de published a Facebook video with the Rheinrmetal Steyr Mannlicher RS556 (that’s along name) shooting both semi auto and full auto.

Austria is investing a large sum of money for the protection of their soldiers.
