Fireworks For Weapons Training
Baret Fawbush posted this on instagram. He uses fireworks to elevate his stress level while engaging steel targets. I think this is rather clever. Albeit, there is always an element of danger when handling or using fireworks. There is a risk of catching one of those in the face. But he is wearing eye and ear protection. For raising one’s solo training, the use of fireworks as an opposing force’s weapon, seems rather effective. Yes, we all know fireworks are nothing like firearms. However other than playing airsoft or simunition games that require another live individual as an opponent, this offers a shooter something random to react to and you don’t need a friend to help stand down range of live fire.
New Steel Target From Birchwood Casey
When it comes to spending time with your favorite rifle, there are two absolute truths: there’s no such thing as too much ammunition or too much target practice. If you enjoy a little auditory feedback with your target practice, odds are you’re a fan of steel targets, and there’s a new one out from Birchwood Casey you just might enjoy. The new steel target is called the Boomslang Gong and it’s designed both for easy transportation and feedback that lives up to its name in the form of a loud, resonant gong. Its also a swinging target, so you can see it move freely on impact. The Boomslang Gong is 9 1/2 inches in diameter and made of AR500 steel.
New Official IDPA Steel Target
The IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association), which has been overseeing the shooting sport of taking on real-life self-defense scenarios on a competitive platform since 1996, has decided it’s time they came out with an official steel target. Fans of IDPA and the concept behind it, whether competitors or spectators, should be happy to see these targets hit the shelves, but they aren’t the only ones. After all, although the target was designed with honing competitor’s skills in mind, reality is all serious shooters can use dedicated training and the tools needed to get it.
Musical Targets
Stand tall and stand proud America. Earlier we posted a video of a shooter playing some Beethoven on some steel targets. Well now comes Musical Targets. Here is a great reason to have high capacity magazines. So you can play music while exercising your freedom. You can get your own musical targets on their website. Watch Musical Targets play the Star Spangled Banner on their targets using a Ruger 10-22.
