#SP5k

The MP5 is arguably the best 9mm SMG ever made. It has been cloned by many and yet fans and collectors always want that German roller delayed blowback perfection. While H&K has imported the SP5K and SP5, they have decided to bring to the US the HK SP5L, the modern-day HK94.

TFB’s Behind The Gun Podcast continues with an interview with Angela Harrell from Heckler & Koch USA. H&K USA has moved mountains in the past few years to bring the SP5 and SP5K-PDW to the American market – guns that we have begged to own since we were kids watching summer blockbuster movies in the 80’s and 90’s. So what’s next for the German icon? Well, they just slipped in the new SP5L that will hit dealers later this month. But is there more? Listen in and find out.

Let’s take a trip back in team to December 1984. Just before SHOT Show, Heckler & Koch USA advertised the models HK91A2 and HK93A2 for $399 each. The deal was: “At Rock-Bottom prices you will never see again.”

One of the goals of attending IWA, for me, was to find products or vendors that were not at SHOT Show last January. While Heckler and Koch were at SHOT Show, they had some guns at IWA that were not brought to Vegas. Check out their .308 DMR dubbed the G28Z.

The Heckler & Koch SP5K is the closest thing to a real MP5K that an everyday citizen like us is able to get. This episode of TFB TV Patrick takes the iconic pistol out to the range and has way too much fun. The SP5K is almost identical to the MP5K that we all know and love with a few exceptions. Gone is the much-loved roller paddle mag release as well as the iconic forward grip handguard that we all associate with the MP5K. No matter, the SP5K still puts a huge grin on Patrick’s face and will be remaining in his collection.
