Friday Night Lights: Gibbous Outfitters Weapon Light Mounts For The MP5
Good news everyone, it is Friday and night is here. You know what that means, Friday Night Lights! Last week we took a look at the iRay USA RS75 high-definition thermal weapon sight. Well, today we take a look at Gibbous Outfitters weapon light mounts for the MP5 platform.
TFB Review: The POF SMG MP5 – MP5 Performance Without the Price?
The venerated MP5 design is one that has lasted well beyond its practical use and into the modern age. The MP5 has made itself a comfy home in the minds of American gun owners due to a combination of real-world and fictional portrayals in the hands of operators and action heroes alike. The MP5 is simply a near-ubiquitous design when it comes to the term SMG or submachine gun. However, the trouble with MP5s, especially in the Heckler & Koch manufacture, is they are really hard to get a hold of and on top of that, they’re also insanely expensive. There are a few other great options out there if you’re unwilling to pay two and a half racks for that roller-delayed goodness and today we’re taking a look at one of the more affordable options in the MP5 scene with POF’s (Pakistan Ordnance Factories) SMG MP5 otherwise known as the POF-5. These Pakistan-produced and Arkansas-imported firearms come in at a competitive price, and really have great performance to match if you’re looking to scratch that MP5 itch and don’t really care about the roll mark.
Friday Night Lights: MP5 Laser – Setting Up Your MP5 For Lasers
Friday is here and you know what that means. Night Chenanigans! I mean Friday Night Lights. A while ago I wrote about MP5 lighted forends. Well, now it is time to delve into lasers. There are easy ways to do this but those often have compromises and we will detail certain criteria for mounting an MP5 laser.
TFB Review: Lee Sporting Trigger Group – AR FCG For MP5!
Lee Sporting reached out to us to see if anyone at TFB would be interested in checking out their Sporting Trigger Group for the MP5. As an ardent fan of the MP5 platform, I volunteered as tribute. Lee Sporting has made their Sporting Trigger Group utilize an AR-15 FCG (Fire Control Group) which has secondary ergonomic benefits. So let’s take a closer look at this cool upgrade for you MP5 afficionados.
TFB Review: HK SP5L – Modern Day HK94
The MP5 is arguably the best 9mm SMG ever made. It has been cloned by many and yet fans and collectors always want that German roller delayed blowback perfection. While H&K has imported the SP5K and SP5, they have decided to bring to the US the HK SP5L, the modern-day HK94.
TFB Behind The Gun Podcast Episode #19: Angela Harrell – Heckler & Koch USA
TFB’s Behind The Gun Podcast continues with an interview with Angela Harrell from Heckler & Koch USA. H&K USA has moved mountains in the past few years to bring the SP5 and SP5K-PDW to the American market – guns that we have begged to own since we were kids watching summer blockbuster movies in the 80’s and 90’s. So what’s next for the German icon? Well, they just slipped in the new SP5L that will hit dealers later this month. But is there more? Listen in and find out.
New H&K SP5L – The MP5's Long Lost (Longer) Brother
Just in from Germany is the H&K SP5L – an SP5 pistol variant that boasts a longer 16.1” barrel. Because the SP5L is imported by our friends at H&K USA, it legally can’t come outfitted as a rifle with a stock. However, new owners are free to swap out the pistol endcap for a stock, without having to wait for ATF approval to make a short barrel rifle. The MSRP is listed as $2,949 and will begin shipping to dealers at the end of this month.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS: H&K SP5 like Die Hard's John McClane
Once we all become adults, Christmas begins to mean a lot less to us and is more about what we can give to others. We start families, have children, work relationships, business acquaintances, and endless others we hunt down gifts for. It is not like when we were children and fully expected an evergreen tree overflowing with gifts for us on Christmas morning. What if we could flip the script even for one year though?… If I could jump on the Fatman’s lap one more time and plead my case for toys beyond my budget I already know what would be on my short-list. All I want for Christmas is an H&K SP5 SBR similar to the MP5 John McClane ran around with on Die Hard (a classic Christmas tale, mind you). Also, one of Springfield Armory’s new Model 2020 Waypoint rifles and my 1st PVS-14 monocular to begin my journey down the night vision rabbit hole.
SILENCER SATURDAY #127: H&K SP5 Subsonic Ammunition Choices
Good morning everyone and welcome back to another edition of TFB’ Silencer Saturday brought to you by our friends at Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the Turbo and Turbo K line of suppressors. Last week we discussed some buying tips for silencer newbies and many of you added advice from your own personal experiences in the comments section. Guidance like don’t wait for wait times to drop before buying, the market for used suppressors is almost non-existent and suppress the caliber, not just the gun, that you shoot the most, is all solid advice. As always, thank you for reading and sharing your knowledge. This week I wanted to touch on selecting ammunition for longer 9mm platforms. Specifically, H&K SP5 subsonic ammunition choices. Easy, right? Just pick a subsonic round and go to work. Hang on, we’ve got a bit of velocity estimation to do first.
Magpul Releases Enhancements for MP5s and Clones
Last October, TFB reported that Magpul had released a line of enhanced parts for CZ’s Scorpion. These upgrades included a grip, mag release, and 35-round PMAGs. Today H&K connoisseurs, Nakatomi Plaza hostage-takers, and roller-delayed blowback fans of all kinds can rejoice together. The Scorpion’s granddaddy, the MP5 (and clones like the semi-auto SP5), is getting some fresh parts. Magpul is giving the MP5 its own set of enhancements, bringing a bit of a modern update to this classic design. Let’s take a closer look at the two Magpul MP5 handguard options and the enhanced selector kit available now, plus the grip module set to join the team soon.
POTD: Mandalorian Heckler & Koch SP5
Photo Of The Day – This is Heckler & Koch’s SP5 at SHOT Show made by Blown Deadline. This isn’t H&K’s first attempt at this, already in 2016, they did a Ballistic Mandalorian Armor.
SILENCER SATURDAY #105: H&K SP5 Vs MP5SD And NFA News
Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday proudly brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine – home of the Turbo and Resonator suppressors. Last week we brought you a writeup on suppressing the new GLOCK 44 rimfire pistol – a setup I believe will be in every rimfire aficionados rotation. This week we are going to run through some recent NFA news and then take a peak at my latest purchase – the H&K SP5. I’ve submitted my Form 1 application, payed my “tax” mailed my prints, ordered a stock and eagerly await the Crown’s blessing to shoulder my authentic German roller-delayed silencer host. Until then, we’ll have to play the SP5 vs MP5SD game as pistol versus short barreled rifle.
POTD: Heckler & Koch SP5
Photo Of The Day – A huge thanks to Jeremy Tremp at Offensive Marketing Group. It’s because of him that we’re able to share these brand new pictures of the new Heckler & Koch SP5.
Gunbroker Auctions Already Pricing The H&K SP5 Way Over MSRP
Back to the PS2. Later I found out those first-runs were being sold on EBay by that afternoon… for a lot of money. It was a tough choice – do I hold on to the PS2 that I’d wanted for so long, or did I want to double or triple months and months of lawn cutting and car washing cash?
