Arriving in the mail for review today was SIG Sauer MCX Rattler Canebrake.  Thanks to SIG’s fantastic customer service team, I was able to get this gun promptly and I can’t thank them enough.  Now, let’s take a closer look at the newest addition to the MCX lineup.

SB Tactical just released astounding news. The ATF has reversed their stance on shouldering “Stabilizing Braces”

SB Tactical, known for giving the ATF a headache and us poor pistol owners a practical “brace”, is at it yet again with their plan to dominate the Modern Sporting Pistol market. This time, SB Tactical has teamed up with Maxim Defense to release an adjustable arm brace modeled on the Maxim Defense CQB Stock. 

Adam Kraut, a 2A lawyer with Prince Law Offices, has been crushing it with Jon Patton of The Gun Collective in their legal side of shows dubbed The Legal Brief. In their most recent video, Adam goes over the legality of making a firearm with an arm brace. While a lot of the content is something we have heard in some form or another, Adam brings up an very interesting opinion. Note that he and I said “opinion”. It is his opinion that the ATF is incorrect in their narrow focus of redesigning and intent. Adam brings up an example where someone buys an pistol that was made from factory with an arm brace. Take which ever gun you can think of. Sig MPX, Sig AR pistols, plus a whole array of other pistols with factory braces. Now that you have a factory made pistol with factory installed brace you have not redesigned the brace since you did not make it or install the brace. If you shouldered this factory made weapon you haven’t redesigned it, you simply misused it. Since the ATF is particular on the definition of the vocabulary they use, Adam’s point does make sense. However in the video he states that the ATF does not agree and a court may or may not agree. Hence why there are lawyers to argue the point. While Adam’s opinion is just that, it is an educated opinion and one from a 2A lawyer. It is certainly food for thought.

ATF has approved SB Tactical’s new brace design.

The SIG SB-15 Brace has had quite a run so far, what with it being argued over, fought over, and debated about to the point of exhaustion. I know I don’t have to tell you guys about the brace itself because you’ve all followed its creation and production so far, but when I saw it at the SIG booth it seemed like a good time to renew the discussion. It’s a fairly neat accessory, after all, and it is made by one of the biggest firearms manufacturers in the industry. What’s not to love?

SB Tactical has changed the world of pistols. Infamously known as the “Sig Brace”, the SB15 opened up many options for pistols. Regardless of the ATF letters, it is a product that has significantly altered the firearm industry. I only knew of their two versions offered by Sig Sauer. The SB15 and the SBX.

AR15News.com did a review of the new KAK Industry Shockwave pistol stabilizer and compares it to the Sig SB15 Brace.

Well, we all knew eventually BATFE would come down on it…  Enough people kept sending letters asking or “misusing” the brace and posting about how this was a way around the SBR issue that the Technology Branch made a definitive ruling, revoking all previous letters.

Last time we reported about a company trying to use a Sig Brace on a Short Barreled Shotgun. I never understood what they were thinking as there is no pistol version for a shotgun. A SBS is still a SBS or AOW.

A post on Shooting Sports Retailer mentions a ruling on using the SB15 Sig Brace and that shooting it from the shoulder is a no-go. However this applies only to shotguns.
