Winchester Awarded $5M Ammunition Contract by FBI

Earlier this year Winchester was awarded a $35 million dollar ammunition contract with the United States Army to provide the service 5.56, 7.62, and .50 caliber ammunition in what ended up being their first military contract following the decision for Winchester to be the operating contractor at the famous Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Now, Winchester has just received yet another federal contract, this time from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to provide the agency with .308 Winchester/7.62×51 NATO for a 5-year term and valued at $5 million.

Sierra Bullets Acquires Barnes Bullets

In a move to continue to be a leader in premium bullets and ammunition, Sierra Bullets (Sedalia, Missouri, USA) has acquired “certain assets” relating to Barnes Bullets. Barnes were previously part of the Remington Arms family of companies. With Remington moving through bankruptcy proceedings and assets being sold off Sierra Bullets have been selected as the successor bidder for Barnes. The press release mentions Barnes’ comprehensive lead-free, all copper offering of premium component bullets and ammunition as well as brand names like the VOR-TX and the TAC-XPD. According to the information Barnes will continue to be based in Mona, Utah.

[SHOT 2020] True Velocity and Sierra Bullets To Introduce Commercial Polymer-Cased Ammunition

True Velocity and Sierra Bullets have partnered to introduce composite cased commercial ammunition that should be available in 2020. Sierra Bullets is Under NEW Ownership

Sierra Bullets got started way back in 1947 in the mysterious land of California. The company was created and established during the booming shooting market after World War II by three people: Frank Snow, Jim Spivey & Loren Harbor. For 22 years these three molded, developed and grew Sierra Bullets. Then, in 1969 BHH Management acquired the company from those founding members. [SHOT 2016] What's new at Black Hills Ammunition

Admittedly, I have always been a big fan of Black Hills Ammunition.  I find their ammo to be extremely accurate and of a very high quality, and have done very well with it in competitions while using it against other competitors using handloads.  That being said, I was excited to check out what new loadings they were offering this year.  Lehigh Defense’s Xtreme Defense bullet seems to have caught on quite well, as Black Hills now offers loads in both .380 and .38 special loaded with their bullets.  The .380 is a 60gr load with a MV (muzzle velocity) of 1100fps, while, the .38 is a +P 100gr load with a MV of 1275fps.

Black Hills Ammunition released an improved version of their famous 77 grain long range precision 5.56mm round. The new version features a green color polymer ballistic tip Sierra boat-tail projectile calls the Tipped MatchKing (TMK). It’s the first ballistic tip bullet by Sierra bullet.
