Federal Ammunition has introduced a new line of shotshell loads on the heels of this year’s Olympics. The new High Over All (HOA) shotshell loads are intended for competitive use and offer shooters better reloadability and more consistent shot patterns. Federal has optimized these loads for trap, skeet, and sporting clay shooters that need the best that Federal Ammunition can offer its customers.

Federal Premium has tuned up their classic Speed-Shok line of waterfowl shotgun shells to be even better coming into the fall duck and goose seasons around the country. By expanding into new gauge sizes for consumers and employing better quality components across the board they hope to draw in even more waterfowlers to the Speed-Shok line.

Lately Federal Premium has been taking a lot of their ammunition offerings and modifying them to be even better than before. This has now extended into their Gold Medal Grand Paper Hull shotgun shells. Where some people might tread on the edge of safety with the phrase if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Federal Premium tends to look at things through the different lens of if it’s not broke, let’s make the whole thing better! OK, I cannot state with 100% certainty that is exactly their thought process, but it cannot be far from it.

Federal Premium’s Blackcloud shotgun loads have become a benchmark for many when it comes to waterfowl hunting. The dense, tight patterns and consistent knock-down ensures more birds end up in the boat and less “shoulda, woulda, coulda” stories are told around the water cooler on Monday morning. When it comes to upland bird hunting, we are always trying to squeak the most performance out of our gear. Whether we are hunting grouse, quail, dove, ptarmigan or pheasants we want the best to ensure our tags are filled and our crockpots are overflowing. This can come in the context of buying new shotguns because… I would have dusted that pheasant if my shotgun didn’t fail me! Or new ammunition because… My aim was right on! The ammo never got there! While I was checking out Keith Products Co machine shop, Keith’s friend Rudy of CreativeReloadingSolutions stopped by. Rudy had Keith help him make his Ultimate Primer Punch. Now I don’t shoot enough shotgun that I need to reload shells but I have a grasp of the concept. However there are issues I was not aware of until Rudy went thru the process with me. Of course you need to punch out the primer and swag the shell just like you do when you reload brass ammunition. What I was not aware of is that the primer pockets tend to get stretched a bit and the only solution is to use an over sized primer. Well Rudy’s primer punch does five different functions all on station 1 of your shotgun shell reloader.
