Arken Optics displayed their EP Lightweight (EPL) scopes at SHOT Show 2023. The EPL is a departure from their previous scopes and is more suited to hunting use.

Rock River Arms has made AR-15 rifles for many years, and continues to do so. Their newest release is the Ascendant series.

TFB has covered both the Hush Puppy Project and Super Vel ammo in previous SHOT Show posts and reviews. After a recent period of absence, they are back on the scene and were once again showing off their wares at SHOT 2023.

New for 2023 from IWI US is an American version of IWI’s Carmel rifle.  With the same 2 position gas selector and cold hammer forged, chrome line free-floated barrel as the international Carmel, the US semiautomatic only version has some cosmetic differences that may be a better fit for the US market.  Let’s take a look.

This year at Shot Show Industry Day at the Range, Savage brought their new 1911 pistols in 3 different trims both with and without rails, and with Black Nitride, Stainless and two-tone schemes.  Savage Also brought out their new A22 takedown and their carbon barreled lightweight Impulse Mountain Hunter straight pull rifle.

Remington Ammunition has released a new hunting cartridge at SHOT Show 2023 – the 360 Buckhammer (360 BHMR). It’s a .358 caliber straight-walled cartridge created by necking up and blowing out the .30-30 Winchester case. The 360 BHMR is advertised as being better than the .30-30 Win in terms of muzzle velocity, retained energy, drop and recoil. Being a rimmed cartridge, the 360 Buckhammer is perfect for lever action rifles, and Henry Repeating Arms has already launched three side gate lever guns as well as a single-shot rifle chambered in this cartridge.

Hi-Lux Optics had a few new optics on display at Shot Show 2023. Though they may be best known for their vintage scopes, the do offer modern options as well.

Zastava USA had all kinds of new things in the works for 2023.  First and most prominent,will be the addition to their catalogue of true underfolding ZPAPM70’s in the M70AB configuration, complete with bayonet lug.  In addition to being a true underfolder integrated into the receiver as opposed to their bolt-on underfolding kit, the new under folders will be the first Zastava USA ZPAP’s to have a bayonet lug as well.

A couple of months back before SHOT Show 2023 was even a worry in my head I was invited out to Georgia where Safariland hosted a great event at Bill Rogers’ shooting school. This was fitting since Bill Rogers is essentially the father of the modern duty holster and while we were there, we were able to get a firsthand look at the new SafariVault holster, now being officially announced here at SHOT 2023. This new holster represents over a year’s worth of work by Safariland and is a super robust, super secure, and modular weapon retention system.

Matrix Arms showed off their new Cage pump action handguard for AR-15 rifles at SHOT 2023 Industry Range Day. Matrix is based in New Hampshire and has been in business since 2015. They are an OEM for other manufacturers and have built products for over 100 variances.

Today at SHOT Show 2023’s Industry Day at the Range, we got hands-on trigger time with a few New Glock Products.   Team Glock’s Shane Coley ran us through the new G20 Gen5 MOS, along with their new G47.  Furthermore, we got to try out Glock’s new Performance trigger, a flat faced trigger that currently fits all Gen 5 9mm’s except the G43/48 slim frames.
