Modlite Upgrades For SureFire M600DF
There is a a guy quietly making SureFire M600DF great again. Cory of Modlite has been quietly working for the past 3 years to make the best weaponlight possible. I know that sounds like every other light manufacturer’s goals and claims but Modlite’s offerings are truly going to be setting the standard. Modlite upgrades include three new heads and a mini scout like body for the M600DF.
PK Design Labs' New M52 Weaponlight And Tape Switch
For those of you not familiar with Paul Kim AKA PK and his legacy of flashlight design, you just need to look at the flashlights that helped SureFire in the 2000s. He was responsible for helping to develop and design many of the SureFire Lights you may use and enjoy. The X-series pistol lights and Scoutlights along with the U2, Kroma, Titan, and the Hellfighter just to name a few. PK left SureFire to pursue flashlight design on his own. Last year PK unveiled his PRX rocket weapon light. It is a single cell weapon light. Well the new M52 weaponlight is a 6 volt 2-cell weapon light that uses a tape switch similar to the Scoutlight tape switch with a small twist, it has a 90 degree plug.
[SHOT 2018] SureFire Dual Fuel Scoutlight And Tan Makes a Comeback
Recently SureFire has been pulling out all the stops with upgrading their lights. They have consulted with people outside of SureFire and that has helped to drive their lights to be more competitive. One example is the Scoutlight DFT. DFT stands for Dual Fuel Tech. The Scoutlight is the ubiquitous weaponlight for AR-15s. They are light weight, small and depending on the head they can emit IR or staggering amount of light. The problem is that they all run on SF123 or CR123 batteries. They are consumables. Other competitors have moved on to incorporate rechargeable Li-Ion cells like the 18650. Many of you may be familiar with this battery as it is used in laptops, Tesla cars and recently Vapes. For those nerdy enough like me to be into flashlights as a hobby, 18650s have been around for about a decade or more in custom or modified lights. Fans have been boring out their Surefire 6P and similar Surefire lights to accommodate the larger cell.
SureFire Winds The Clock Back With New Tactical Handheld Flashlights
SureFire lights are the industry standard for weaponlights and handheld lights. They are 100% American made and hard to find a fault in their performance. However if you talk to flashlight afficionados SureFire has moved away from the glory of their past.
Magpul's New MLOK Extended Cantilever Scout Mount
Magpul has offered a few different options for mounting a Surefire Scoutlight. Their offset mounts positions the light forward saving handguard space. However there has always been a slight issue with spacing. Due to the Scoutlight design, even if you directly mount the body to the mount, it still sticks out like a sore thumb.
Cloud Defensive Tape Switch Rail Mount
For those who dabble with weapon mounted lights, specifically Surefire Scoutlights and their Millennium Series weapon lights, knows the problems with the tape switches. The ubiquitous ST07 tape switch comes with an alcohol wipe and adhesive velcro. Those don’t last long after a while. Other issues arise with the squishiness of the velcro. It gives when you push the tape switch and requires more force to activate the light. You can use rubber bands, tape or zip ties but those still have their own unique problems. One remedy is the SR07 tape switch that is molded rubber and clamps onto picatinny rails. Only problem with the SR07 is that it is not cheap. They retail for around $85.

Soldier Systems posted this up. Unity Tactical is making an upgrade replacement clamp for the Magpul MBUS Pro front sight. The replacement clamp will allow you to offset mount a light
