#Salvo

Jorge aka @silencers_1909 of Capitol Armory shows off his impressive suppressor collection and his Remington 870 storage space. It is one of those wooden pallet flags with a compartment hidden behind it.

SilencerCo has just announced their latest installment of the Summit Series of custom guns and suppressors. Besides the custom American Flag case from San Tan Woodworks, the new package includes a new breacher front cap for the included eight-inch Salvo.

Project SALVO’s experiments with multiple projectile ammunition did, surprisingly, result in the production of service ammunition. The 7.62mm M198 Duplex round was an attempt to improve the short-range combat effectiveness of the M14 rifle (so far as this author knows, it was never linked for use in the M60 machine gun – ED: Commenter Bud Harton mentions that it was linked for use in the M60, and this has been confirmed by other sources), but the fundamental limitations of duplex ammunition remained, and it was never successful. Eventually, the improved hit probability rifle would be realized in the .22 caliber AR-15, adopted as the M16 before the Vietnam War.

SilencerCo has released a full technical video on the new Salvo 12, revealing more information on the system. The video breaks down the entire suppressor, giving shooters a peek inside and if you watch carefully, it answers a few burning questions.

On Day 2 of the SilencerCo release event, we got to shoot the shorter 6″ version of the new “Salvo” shotgun suppressor. With its shorter length, it is louder than the longer 8″, 10″, and 12″ versions, but I took about 10 total shots with no ear pro and it was fine. If I was going to shoot more rounds such as trap/skeet/sporting clays in one go, I might consider wearing ear pro, or finding a lighter load to see if it would further reduce the noise.

So of course the main question regarding SilencerCo’s new “Salvo 12″ shotgun suppressor is how quiet is it?
