RWS now offers .308 Winchester ammunition tailored to provide maximum efficiency from shorter barreled rifles. Observing the trend of hunters preferring shorter barrelled lighter rifles, the company came up with this load that is specifically designed for short barrels. The new ammunition is called .308 Winchester Short Rifle and it comes loaded with two bullet types: RWS HIT and SPEED TIP Professional.

Turkish owned, Kazakh manufactured, and soon to be Malaysian based subsidiary of Aselsan recently demonstrated a Remote Weapons Station based around the 7.62x51mm NATO Dillon M134 Minigun at Defense & Security 2017 held in Bangkok Thailand. The design has Stabilised Advanced Remote weapon Platform (SARP) as its name and is apart of Aselsan Malaysia, a subsidiary based in Kuala Lumpur. It is a mount that is designed around a variety of weapon systems, primarily the .50 BMG M2 and the FN MAG. However it can also be utilized with a Russian AGL and an M134 Minigun. Included with the platform are a thermal imaging capability, automatic target tracking (to include low flying drones), ballistic computer, and an ability to work in numerous environments. The company has stated that the design is in use by 13 different countries.

The Israeli Defense Forces are looking at acquiring a drone with a punch, according to news outlet Defense One. Per an article of their website, the IDF is looking at the TIKAD from Duke Robotics; a lightweight aerial drone that is able to be equipped with a variety of small weapons, from the familiar AR-15, to machine guns or grenade launchers. What makes the TIKAD most notable is its size: Much closer to the handheld drones of hobbyists than the high-flying Predators of the military, the TIKAD is one of a slew of innovative new unmanned systems that are small and light enough for motorized or light infantry to take with them to the battlefield.

RWS has introduced a new hunting cartridge – 10.3x68mm. It is a magnum cartridge with a belted case and 10.3 caliber projectile. This caliber (10.54mm (.415″) projectile diameter) has some popularity in Europe in the form of 10.3x60R Swiss cartridge. But the latter has some limitations to it. So in order to meet the demands of modern hunters with the desired caliber, RWS designed this new cartridge. The company markets it as a universal cartridge, which will do the job on a wide variety of game: from small game up to African buffalo.

Milrem, an Estonian defense company, has recently come out with a hybrid diesel-electric drive UGV (unmanned ground vehicle) called the THeMIS.  For their armed versions, they have partnered with ST Kinetics, and are utilizing ST Kinetics’ highly-capable ADDER remote weapon station complete with CIS50 machine gun.  The CIS-50 has dual gas pistons and a dual-feed system to quickly switch between types of ammunition, and the ADDER is an excellent remote weapon system that incorporates auto-stabilization, tracking, thermal imaging and advanced sensors.  The ADDER can also accommodate an M240 7.62mm machine gun or the CIS-40 AGL with air-bursting munitions.  It is unclear at this time whether or not the THeMIS can handle the dual-weapon version of the ADDER, though it does have a maximum payload of 750kg.
