Just before the SHOT Show, Ruger announced the Generation II version of the American series bolt action rifles, and Hop dropped by to check them out. Like the previous generation, Ruger American Gen II will be available in the standard size as well as the smaller, lighter “Ranch” models. The new features include factory Cerakote, spiral fluted barrels, threaded barrels with an included muzzle brake, a new three-position safety design, and a greatly improved stock with an included cheek riser.

The Ruger American Rifle series has become a popular, affordable line of rifles that include the Ruger American Ranch Rifle, one of which comes chambered for 7.62x39mm. For the American Ranch, Ruger opted to incorporate their own magazine design from the Ruger Mini-30, also chambered for 7.62×39. However, the 7.62×39 cartridge is most synonymous with AKM pattern rifles, thus, many people have been hoping for a Ruger American Ranch Rifle that accepts AK magazines. Enter Firecastle Customs, who recently announced their AK magazine adapter for Ruger American Ranch Rifles chambered in 7.62×39.

The Ruger American rifle series has been one of the best budget bolt-action rifle offerings in the current market. The rifle is available virtually everywhere in the United States and comes at an affordable price for its performance. However certain states still try to put bans on particular firearms when it comes to hunting and this is where the new Ruger One-Shot Sled comes in. For states that have particular seasons where only “single-shot” centerfire rifles are allowed, the Ruger One-Shot Sled easily and quickly converts your factory Ruger American magwell into a sled that easily allows you to load a single round at a time into your rifle.

The Ruger American Ranch Rifle (RARR) is a handy, affordable 16″ barrel bolt action that can be had in a number of chamberings. Weights range from 5.5-6lbs, depending on caliber, and though the default color scheme is a tan stock with a matte black receiver and barrel, a number of distributor-exclusive colors are available.

Ruger have again expanded their popular Ruger American line of pistols with the .45 ACP Ruger American Compact now available with an attractive gray Cerakote finish on both the grip frame and the slide. This new offering comes with or without a manual safety.

Ruger have announced the introduction of a 9x19mm competition pistol to their popular Ruger American line. The new pro model has a 5in competition barrel with 6 grooves and a 1:16″ slow twist for enhanced accuracy with lighter-weight match bullets. With a lengthened slide and longer sight radius, the new competition pistol has fully adjustable rear target sights and a fiber optic front sight for rapid target acquisition.

OuterImpact is proud to announce the newest additions to the Modular Red Dot Adapter (M.R.A.) line of products. The OuterImpact M.R.A. line of adapter plates gives shooters an easy to install option for mounting mini red dot sights onto their Ruger American pistols and Steyr A1 (S-A1, C-A1, M-A1, L-A1, M9-A1) pistols without the need for milling or drilling the slide.

Magpul has been knocking it out of the park with their recent products. To top them off they came up with some really great commercials.

Truglo announced the company will now offer its TFX and TFX Pro sights for the Ruger American Pistol line of handguns. These sights should fit both the full size and compact versions of the Ruger pistols, and will fit both 9mm and .45 ACP models.

After getting a chance to shoot my friend’s suppressed bolt action Savage .22LR I saw the light. So I picked up a Ruger American Rimfire with threaded barrel. Then I put it up against a 10/22 with Yankee Hill Machine integrally suppressed barrel.

The Ruger American line, which has already won the 2013 American Rifleman “Rifle of the Year” award, has now launched a varmint series of rifles.  Having shot my share of Ruger American rifles, I can say that for a rifle is that is sub-$500, they are very well made and very accurate.  Being 100% American made is also a huge plus.
