Rubber ducks or rubber AKs? What did you play with as a kid? I presume diving is the main purpose during this kind of training and using firearms made out of rubber or other kinds of plastic takes any cleaning out of the exercise, which is a nice thing.

Being a defense show rather than a firearms industry show, there are a bunch of interesting products to see at AUSA that one might not get a peek at elsewhere. An example of this kind of product is the Modular Interlocking Ballistic Barriers from KF Armory. These barriers are made of a solid proprietary rubber-like material, can absorb impacts up to .50 cal (for the variant rated for that round), and can be assembled into walls and structures in very little time.

Last May I reviewed the Viper butt stock from Strike Industries and found it to be a rather solid option for those looking for a low-cost stock that wasn’t the overly common Magpul MOE stock. One of the complaints that surfaced in the comments is the lack of a rubber butt pad to help absorb shock when mortaring the rifle to clear a malfunction.

The ingenuity of humanity never ceases to amaze me. As such, I am mesmerized by the bike-chain & electric-drill powered magazine-fed pencil machine gun (or perhaps just the voice) of YouTube user Joerg Sprave and The Slingshot Channel.
