POTD: Royal Marines with Submarine in Northern Norway
For a very long time, we’ve been looking for images with submarines and firearms for our Photo Of The Day. It seems to be impossible, so we have to settle for a distant view of the Royal Marine Surveillance and Reconnaissance Squadron (SRS), which is an element of 30 Commando Information Exploitation Group. The Royal Marines are the UK’s arctic warfare specialists. Their motto is “Attain by Surprise”, so submarines and inflatable raiding crafts are quite useful means of transportation.
U.K. Royal Marines adopt a 6.5CM LMT as the L129A2, ft. HUXWRX and Leupold
The U.K. might be considered the Old World by us Americans, but the U.K. Royal Marines are on the absolute cutting edge with their newest DMR. Specifically, the Royal Marines have adopted an LMT AR-10-type rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor with HUXWRX suppressors and the Leupold Mk5 HD – a wonderful combo.
The Royal Marines, along with the British Army’s Rangers, also recently selected the KAC KS-1 as the L403A1 Alternative Individual Weapon.
BREAKING: UK Selects New Assault Rifle
The United Kingdom has selected the Knight’s Armament Company KS-1 as the new individual weapon for the new Ranger battalions and elements of the Royal Marines Commandos. The requirement for the new rifle was released back in August 2021.
POTD: Royal Marines Reserves in Cyprus
Who doesn’t want a giant Trijicon ACOG sight on their AR? I recently had the opportunity to peek through a Trijicon ACOG 6×48 scope with its bullet drop compensator reticle, and it’s really super bright. The eyebox is super-forgiving. The L129A1 is a semi-automatic designated marksman rifle used by the British Armed Forces, and the Royal Marines Reserves as seen here. The rifle is manufactured by Lewis Machine & Tool Company (LMT), and it is based on the LMT MWS (Modular Weapon System) platform.
POTD: Royal Marines Winter Deployment 2022
The Royal Marines have deployed to Norway for their annual winter deployment in the Arctic Circle. This year, Royal Navy ships joined the Royal Marines for a large-scale NATO exercise Cold Response 22. The Commandos refreshed their skills in surviving, moving, and fighting across the ice. Above you see a Commando emerge from the freezing depths of an Arctic fjord during final preparations for the largest winter exercise in Norway for 30 years. Below you can see them fighting in a cloud of gunsmoke.
POTD: Royal Marines with Heckler & Koch G36 and SA80
Have you taken your vitamins today? As you know vitamins have several important functions for our bodies. Some say they are almost as important as a daily dose of TFB’s Photo Of The Day, and we agree of course. Today we have some cracking pictures from the Royal Marines (United Kingdom) during an exercise in Lithuania in 2021.
POTD: Royal Marines Commandos in the Mojave Desert
Photo Of The Day: The Royal Marines Commandos have some postcards from their action-packed mission in the USA, where they are working together with US and Dutch Marines. The location: Mojave Desert in California.
POTD: Royal Marines in the Arctic Circle
Fresh and cold pictures of Royal Marines specialists from the Arctic Circle is what’s on offer in our Photo Of The Day. If you can offer some help in identifying the firearms please let us know in the comments below. We think they are Colt Canada C8 SFWs, also known as the L119 in the U.K. service, but there seem to be some differences. The paint job is pretty interesting for the arctic environment but looks good at least.
POTD: Royal Marines Snipers with L115A3 Long Range Rifle
Photo Of The Day – We look at what we think is a Royal Marines sniper with his L115A3 Long Range Rifle on Dartmoor’s training area. It seems there is quite a lot of undergrowth on this range, a perfect place to hide for a sniper.
POTD: Royal Marines of 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group
Photo Of The Day and a look at the Royal Marines of 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group. This unit is held at very high-readiness year round, guarding the nuclear deterrent carried onboard the Vanguard-class submarines based at Faslane Naval Base in Scotland. This gives us an excellent opportunity to take another look at the Royal Marines Commandos New Uniform again. Not to mention their Colt Canada C8s and GPMG.
POTD: Royal Marine Commandos in Training
Photo Of The Day – We take a look at Royal Marines of the 40 Commando and the 45 Commando as they have live firing exercises in the Brecon Beacons, Sennybridge Training Area in Wales.
POTD: Royal Marines Commandos New Uniform
Today’s Photo of the Day comes courtesy of the UK’s Royal Navy which has recently unveiled a new uniform and flash for the elite Royal Marines Commando units. The photos feature the new uniform manufactured by US-based Crye Precision.
POTD: Royal Marines Assault Engineers at the Arctic Circle
Photo Of The Day and we take a look at what is going on around the Arctic Circle in Norway. We’re looking at Royal Marines Assault Engineers planting charges to destroy railroads and other infrastructure (been there, done that).
POTD: 47th Commando Raiding Group and Norwegian Army Soldiers
Did you have fun at work today? Before you start complaining check out the working conditions for these soldiers in our Photo Of The Day. These Royal Marines, assigned to 47 Commando Raiding Group, and the Norwegian Army soldiers, assigned to Combat Engineer Battalion/Brigade North, have surely seen better conditions on the sea.
