TsNII TochMash Reveals New Sidearm for the Russian Police – The Poloz

Here on TFB, we followed closely the development of the Russian semi-auto pistol Udav, produced by the TsNII TochMash and on the road to replace the Makarov as Russian military sidearm. We also had an insight on the civilian version of the model, the Aspid. According to a press release from Rostec, a new version of the Udav, called Poloz, is now designed specifically to be the next sidearm of the Russian police.

Rostec Unveils The First Russian Heavy Machine Gun Reflex Sight

Russian state corporation Rostec has announced that they have developed the first Russian heavy machine gun reflex sight. This red dot sight is designed primarily for the .50 caliber Kord HMG that is widely used throughout the Russian armed forces both as a crew-served infantry weapon and mounted to various marine, aerial and ground vehicles. The new sight is developed by TSNII “Tsiklon”, which is a subsidiary of the  Ruselectronics Holding that in its turn, is part of Rostec Corporation.

Russian PISHAL Anti-Drone Gun to be Sold Both in Military/LE and Civilian Markets

During the  ARMY 2018 International Military-Technical Forum, a Russian company called “ Avtomatika Concern” (a subsidiary of Rostec state corporation) has introduced an anti-UAV gun called “Pishal” (Пищаль – a Russian word meaning the very early hand cannons). Interestingly, this weapon system will be sold both in the military/LE and civilian markets.

Kalashnikov Concern to Sell More Shares to Private Investors

According to Russian news agency TASS, during the Dubai Air Show 2017, Sergey Chemazov, the CEO of the Russian state corporation Rostec, has announced that 26% (minus one share) of Kalashnikov Concern will be sold to private investors. The decision is already made and awaits approval from the government of Russian Federation.

Russian PATRIOT Park to Host a Year-Round Military Exhibition

One of the most significant military events in the Russian Patriot Park is ARMY exhibition held annually in August. This year it was especially successful for the Russian companies. Particularly, Rostec State Corporation has signed sales contracts of a total sum of 40 billion rubles (about $692,240,000). As a result of evaluation of the ARMY-2017, Russian largest military and LE products manufacturers will arrange a year-round exhibition in the Patriot Park.

19th of September is the Gunsmith’s Day in Russia. This year, the most notable celebration event was the unveiling of Mikhail Kalashnikov  statue in Moscow. A number of Russian defense industry and government officials attended the ceremony.

Izhmeh shareholder to sell 51%

Now I’m no knowledgable business guru, but Jane’s  is reporting that the state owned company that had a stake in Izhevsk, Rostec (which by the way, did you know Kalashnikov Concern also makes boats?) has now sold 51% to a company called  Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company. The report states that UMMC previously bought up to 49% of Kalashnikov Concern, in addition the report specifically mentions Alexei Krivoruchko, who is the CEO of Kalashnikov Concern, and who seems to be also connected to the UMMC company. Something that could be happening is that with the sanctions, Kalashnikov Concern could be diversifying its ownership and interests into separate sectors in order to prepare for any financial disaster. Similar to how H&K has a civilian side, and a Defense/LE side with H&K Defense. So if one part of the company suffered a lawsuit or financial disaster, it wouldn’t affect the other part.
