The India-Russia joint venture to produce AK-203 assault rifles for the Indian Armed Forces has produced the first batch of rifles for the Indian Army. This was announced by  Rosoboronexport on January 17. The Indian Army has a requirement for about 671,000 rifles.

This week sees India’s premier military exposition, Defexpo, get underway in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. One of the attendees is Russia’s Rosoboronexport, a subsidiary of the Rostec State Corporation, who will be in discussions with Indian officials to finally get production of the AK-203 in India organised.

Russian companies are a common and interesting presence at any IDEX event. Kalashnikov Concern had a very well-organized and active area with all their models, including the latest releases such as the AK-19 and the MP-155 shotgun. Here we’ll look at a less familiar (and pronounceable) name: Rosoboronexport.

Russia’s sole state intermediary for the importation and exportation of defense-related products – Rosoboron Export – has just made their two latest products open to the market. The Legion Multi-Purpose shooting shield and the PB-4SP OSA traumatic cartridge firing pistol. Each of the two products is aimed at providing security forces with non-lethal options against selected targets.
