Recently, my local FFL and Range held a Range Demo Day featuring products from Wilson Combat, Silencerco, Heckler & Koch, Blue Bullets, and Vortex Optics.  I was Volunteering my time for the most part, but got to try some products at the end of the day.  One of the most anticipated products at the range day was Wilson Combat’s relatively new EDC X9 double stack 9mm 1911, and I was very excited to try it out.

Expanding well past their ubiquitous 1911 line, Wilson Combat has released a new camouflage. Claimed to “blend well in many urban and rural environments.” the new pattern is base colors with the outline of foliage and dusted lighter colors. The new camouflage will be available in gray base, FDE base, and green base. It is now available on all Wilson’s produced firearms.

New from Wilson combat is a forged AR-15 lower receiver with an integral trigger guard. At $239.95 it is not cheap (but nothing with the Wilson brand ever is).

Despite coming out strongly for the .300 AAC BLK cartridge, Wilson Combat has developed their own 7.62x39mm-equivalent for the AR-15. The 7.62x40mm WT is a 5.56mm NATO cartridge necked up to .30 caliber. To convert an AR-15 to use the 7.62×40 WT a barrel change is (obviously) required and a special Wilson-modified version of Lancer’s L5 AWM polymer magazine.

The Contemporary Classic Centennial, 100th Anniversary Edition, is Wilson Combat’s answer to the question “What would John Moses Browning have done with the 1911 if he had modern CNC machines available?”. Just 100 are being made.

Wilson Combat is now selling match.45 ACP ammunition. The Bill Wilson Signature Jacketed Match Load is guaranteed to shoot ten-shot groups at 25 yard through a “fixed barrel testing device” of under 0.5″. The load pushes a 230 gr. Hornady HAP (Hornady Action Pistol) bullet at 760 fps.

Wilsons Gunshop (aka. Wilson Combat) has just had two patent applications approved. Both attribute Douglas D. Olson as the inventor.

The Classic 130 Master Grade is an incredibly beautiful work of art.

Word on the ‘net is that Cooper have been bought by Wilson Arms.
