Volquartsen Hammer And Sear Kit For The Ruger MKIV 22/45

Depending on your personality, upgrading a brand new pistol is either the very first thing you want to do or the last. Trust me on this one, make it your first upgrade. A few years ago I invested in both a Volquartsen hammer and sear for my MKIII and, before the replacement, I would have sworn that the stock trigger was already match quality. But the swap was a noticeable difference to stock with a smooth pull and a crisp break. Volquartsen has just announced a combination hammer and sear Kit for the MKIV 22/45 line of pistols. Pricing, additional details and order ping information can be found below.

[SHOT 2018] Volquartsen Summit, MP15-22 Carbon Fiber Barrel & .22LR Pistol Upgrades

Volquartsen is one of the top names in quality rimfire guns. Recently they acquired the Summit Straight Pull receiver design from PWS. Pete has one of the original Summits from PWS and I was curious how well it works. I was hoping it would be like a Biathalon rifle setup. If you haven’t seen a Biathalon rifle cycle it is awesome. The shooter pulls the charging handle back with a flick of their index finger. Then their thumb pushes the charging handle back forward. It looks effortless and smooth as silk.

Volquartsen Takes Over Production Of Summit Straight Pull Rifles

In the category of what two things fit perfectly together, Volquartsen and anything .22LR is pretty much a given. So when the latest email blast came from the precision rifle and pistol manufacturer showing a new production run of the Summit Rifle, I couldn’t help but smile. After all, Primary Weapon Systems (PWS) announced the retirement of the straight pull rifles and receivers a couple of years ago, leaving myself and others to scramble for the remaining guns. My project “spark plug” – making a charger style pistol with a Summit receiver – has unfortunately stalled for the moment, due mostly to time constraints.

The Eighth Day Of TFB Christmas: Rimfire Life

If you a regular reader of my posts – and I freely admit those numbers are low – you may already know that I enjoy the rimfire life as much, if not more, than my centerfire guns. Inexpensive to shoot, light on recoil and when paired with a quality silencer, very quiet. Whether you are a target shooter, hunter or plinker, there is joy to be had in a good rimfire rifle or pistol setup.

Ruger MKIV Recall Update – C/O Volquartsen

It has been a few months since the original announcement of the factory Ruger MKIV recall. As you may remember, Ruger discovered an issue with the sear in which the trigger could be partially depressed and the safety engaged but the gun could still fire. The Newport, NH based company did the right thing and notified everyone affected to sign up for the fix and await further instructions. Unfortunately, it was not just individuals that were inconvenienced by the news – dealers, distributors and manufacturers had to alter their sales plans based on the recall announcement.

Brownells Visits Volquartsen – Uncovers Stainless Scorpion

Why add a stainless steel version of the match grade Al Scorpion? I asked the same question. Apparently many shooters prefer the feel of a heavier weight pistol over the aluminum version. Also, some owners wanted a fully stainless gun rather than an hard anodized frame upper. Either way, functionality and accuracy will remain the same for both versions.
