POTD: Shot Shells
This was posted in a gun group on Social Media. They were shot at 7.5 yards. While not terribly challenging it does require some amount of skill. Especially in recovering them after being shot. The .45acp brass was pushed into the holes of a cardboard target and shot at again. Below is a photo of a clean hole through one of the casing.
Grizzly IPSC Reactive Steel AR500 Target Review
For the past six months Grizzly Targets have been a valued sponsor of our young but fast growing TFBTV Youtube channel. The sponsorship comes to an end this month and we are very grateful for their support. We have given their targets hell and have no complaints whatsoever.
Grizzly Targets: How Strong Are They?
Grizzly Target has been a sponsor of our humble program for a long time, and we just wanted to put together a quick compilation of what we have done to these things. They can even survive Patrick, the breaker of all things, but most importantly the people at Grizzly produce great targets at a great price.
New Steel Target From Custom Metal Products
If you spend time shooting at a favorite outdoor spot and prefer using manufactured targets rather than random objects such as soda cans and water bottles – not that those aren’t fun at times – take a look at the latest offering from Custom Metal Products. The company is offering a new steel target with an auto-reset feature; if you’re interested in honing your marksmanship skills with pistols, rifles, or both, this target could be just what you need.
Taofledermaus Makes Homemade Reactive Targets
There’s not much more fun than shooting things that explode, and to prove that point YouTuber Taofledermaus decided to make his own reactive targets. According to Taofledermaus, he was put in touch with the Big Blast inventor, and things pretty much snowballed from there. In his video summary he says the biggest problem he had was getting the soda bottles – apparently he didn’t want to buy new ones – but he solved that problem by getting some that were about to be recycled.
Review: Grizzly Targets AR500 IPSC Hostage Target and 18″x24″ Rectangle Target
If you have been watching any of our recent TFBTV videos you know that we have picked up a couple of sponsors, one of those being Grizzly Targets. As soon as the Grizzly Targets AR500 Steel Targets arrived at my house I had to get them out of the packages and get them put together.
New Targets From FAB Defense
When you’re shooting at close ranges, ricochet is always one of the top concerns. It doesn’t matter if you’re running a 3-gun course or training for CQB, the problem is the same, and now there’s going to be a target designed specifically for those situations.
New Tactical Steel Target From Custom Metal Targets
If you’re interested in taking your self-defense shooting to the next level, take a look at the new steel target from Custom Metal Targets. Their newest product is the Tactical B-C Zone steel target, which was designed with advanced self-defense tactics in mind whether for instruction purposes or private use. The new target is a steel torso with a plate peeking out over the torso’s shoulder to symbolize an assailant’s head behind a hostage as well as a center mass target that flips out when hit. When you strike the plates and they flip out, you can simply shoot them again to reset.
TFBTV: Tips for Cheap Targets (Recycled Lawn Signs)
I am pleased to introduce our first video from Miles, fresh out of the Marine Corps. In this video Miles takes a look at some field expedient and unconventional target systems through the use of recycled cardboard lawn signs, specifically political campaign signs, which are in abundance at the end of many elections countrywide. We show various techniques in making decent target stands out of them and demonstrate their use through live fire. Keep in mind that these are specific ideas of how to work with them and simply show their multiple uses. If viewers have better and simpler ways, feel free to let the community know.
City Slickers Pay Attention: Zero for 50/200 Yards at 10
While we have posted a few targets in the past, I am always keen to share the goodies with you all for when a trip out to the country is not in the cards. Matt from JerkingTheTrigger created a great little target based on Frank Proctor’s methods to assist with setting up a firearm for a 50 yard zero when you only have 10 to spare.
Evil 3-Gun Targets: Swinging Texas Star
Prior to today, I had never seen or heard of a swinging star target, but now having seen them, they will haunt my competition nightmares. Called the “Death Star” by many who have encountered it, the swinging texas start adds lateral and vertical movement to the standard rotation.
New Official IDPA Steel Target
The IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association), which has been overseeing the shooting sport of taking on real-life self-defense scenarios on a competitive platform since 1996, has decided it’s time they came out with an official steel target. Fans of IDPA and the concept behind it, whether competitors or spectators, should be happy to see these targets hit the shelves, but they aren’t the only ones. After all, although the target was designed with honing competitor’s skills in mind, reality is all serious shooters can use dedicated training and the tools needed to get it.
Zero for 50 and 200 Yards From Just 10.
Like many of our readers, I am now limited to my closest ranges being indoor. Drives me nuts when I have to zero a rifle for 3-gun and the longest range I can get too quickly is a scant 15 yards. (I can drive 45 minutes to some good long-ranges, but getting at least three hours free can be difficult).
Polymer Targets For Close Range Shooting
A local shooting club started using Newbold targets for their pistol match practice. During the winter the club retreats to their indoor pistol range. One problem with shooting indoors is the inability to utilize steel targets safely. That is where Newbold Targets comes in. They make standardized target shapes out of a high grade polymer. The targets still react to being hit by a bullet but there is no danger of back splatter like there is with steel targets. According to Newbold these targets have a relatively long life span.
