TFB Review: Chiappa 1887 Lever Action Shotgun – 2500 Rounds Later

When I was in my early years of high school, I decided that if I never have an occupation that lends me the possibility of getting to work with my dream guns that I should just save up and buy the most realistic one at the top of the list. This chosen one was the Winchester 1887 Lever Action Shotgun. I was not remotely interested in buying an actual Winchester because I intended on shooting the crap out of it. This led me to the Norinco ones which have some not great reviews and reports and eventually the Chiappa 1887 Lever Action Shotgun reproduction. Between buying my 1980’s vintage Remington 870 Magnum, getting the ATF approval, and actually making it into an SBS has been a long time, admittedly though, purely self induced. My goal has been to do as much of the work myself, rather than to send it off and have the work done for me. That way, I save some money, and learn things in the process.

Shockwave Technologies have introduced their Raptor F1 shotgun furniture kits for the Mossberg 500/590 and Remington 870 shotgun models. These furniture sets include the forend and heat shield, and a bird’s head pistol grip. Shockwave Tech was nice enough to send a sample of each to review. Bird’s head shotgun grips have become wildly popular of late since the release of the Mossberg Shockwave, and Remington Tac-14 and Tac-13 shotguns. Shockwave Tech’s shotgun forearm furniture is a new, modular take on the forend with a twist. The optional top cover to the Shockwave Technologies forearm attaches to the slide action and acts as a heat shield, and also incorporates a front and rear sight.

Discreet Rifle Transport: Hiding Long Guns In Plain Sight

For quite some time now, I’ve tried to take a long gun with me when I travel, but carrying a gun case through a hotel lobby has the potential to draw unwanted attention.  Using a discreet method to carry a long gun doesn’t alert naysayers or thieves that a rifle or shotgun is present in the car, hotel, or anywhere in between.  I’ll show the discreet rifle transport I came up with, but we’ll look at a couple more options as well.
