New this year from RIA USA is an American designed, American-made pistol with a lot of unique features: The 5.0 Pistol in 9x19mm.  We got a chance to shoot this smooth operator at SHOT 2023 Industry Day at the Range.  Let’s take a closer look:

Last time,  we took a look at some of the most obscure guns found in the catalog of the September 2020 Rock Island Premier Firearms Auction. The auction took place from September 11th to 13th, as scheduled, and today we’ll see what were the most expensive lots that went under the hammer during the September 2020 Rock Island Premier Firearms auction.

The catalog of upcoming Rock Island Premier Gun Auction is now published on the company’s website and as always, it is full of incredibly interesting, historical and rare firearms. In this article, we’ll take a look at two consecutive lots (#417 and #418) each containing a Colt pistol that despite being regular guns have high values because they are attributed to some of the most feared gangsters of American history – Al Capone and Pretty Boy Floyd.

As usual, shortly after the end of another Rock Island Premier Firearms Auction, the list of prices realized was published and we examined it to find out what lots were the most appealing in collectors’ eyes and were sold at the highest prices. Like any RIAC auction, the December 2019 Rock Island Premier Firearms Auction was full of unique pieces of firearms engineering and history many of which were sold for over $100K. Below we’ll present you the list of most expensive lots sold during this auction.

The catalog of the upcoming  Rock Island December 2018 Premiere Firearms Auction includes a lot of incredibly interesting and rare firearms. Fellow TFB writer  Matthew Moss has already written an article about some of the coolest guns of this auction. In this article, I’ll tell you about five other rare and unusual guns consigned to the December 2018 auction.

The catalog of the upcoming Rock Island April 2018 Premiere Firearms Auction is already published. It is always interesting to look through their catalog and see what lots are consigned because this is one of the USA’s biggest firearms auctions and some of the most unusual and rare guns of the world are sold through it. I picked five firearms from the catalog which are either extremely rare or unusual. The names of the guns are linked to the corresponding Rock Island Auction page. The list goes in no particular order.

I just HAD to stop by the Armscor lane to ask them some questions about the .22TCM and .22TCM9R rounds in regards to interchangeability but was quickly distracted by a man in fancy pants tempting me with a match grade double stack 1911. After my earlier experience with the STI Costa gun I had to give it a go. I know it isn’t going to be a STI level gun, with a MSRP of $1077 the Rock Island Pro match is well cheaper than the STI and is worth giving a closer look.

If Rock Island Auction Company claims this area of Illinois to be the ‘gun mecca’ of the United States (with 5 firearm companies within the immediate vicinity), then Rock Island Arsenal is certainly the beginning of that influx of that concentration of firearms companies. Today, it is still an active duty U.S. Army post that conducts research and development for a wide variety of services within the U.S. Military. The mission statement consists of,

Rock Island Armory introduced several new guns at SHOT. Two caught my attention because of the number of readers expressing interest in a 1911 in 10mm. I must say I also have an interest in this caliber especially in a 1911.

If you’re lucky the barrel will drop right in. Most will find that some fitting will be needed at the rear of the barrel hood. Ideally what you want is a barrel that locks up solidly with the barrel bushing, barrel lugs into the slide recesses and finally the barrel hood length just long enough to fit against the rear of the frame when the barrel locks up with the slide.

Rock Island Armory will be importing the Armscor’s new semi-automatic .22 LR chambered MIG 22 rifle. Our team saw the rifle on display at IWA ’11 last month.
