LaRue Tactical has an interesting new take on the classic carry handle mounting rail. The AccARizer rail runs from the carry handle to the front sight post with one continuous rail surface. Let’s take a look at the details. 

Bravo Company Manufacturing, aka BCM, has a whole new spin on Picatinny rail mounts. The new Angled Torque Mounts do away with the traditional cross-bolt and replace it with an angled screw that pulls against the underside of the rail. BCM claims that this new system offers “unprecedented zero retention.”

I bet this caught you by surprise, didn’t it? I know it did for me. Bo Chen (no relation) is Leaper’s Director of Sales & Marketing. He reached out to announce they are making a UTG MP5 rail handguard that is coming out in September.

Along with the rising popularity of tripods in the firearms community, the Arca Swiss rail system also gets more and more popular and the companies start developing new accessories and offering  new solutions related to this system. Today we’ll take a look at two new ODIN Works Arca Swiss products – the Arca TRAX rail sections and Arca 3 Way hybrid rail.

Sureshot Armament Group came up with another cool aftermarket product for AK rifles – the AK Handguard MK1. This new AK rail system is a drop-in accessory that replaces the original lower handguard and gas tube assembly. Let’s take a closer look.

Daniel Defense has announced that the M-LOK and KeyMod versions of their Omega Rail are now available for order. This rail is a drop in part allowing to have a free floated barrel on your basic pattern AR-15 rifles that originally came with polymer handguards retained by the delta ring and front handguard cap.

At the 2018 SHOT Show, Geissele Automatics made fans very happy by bringing out 3 new and much-asked for products. First, the company released its new Remington 700 trigger line, which consists of a single SKU adjusted from the factory to two models: Single stage and two stage. The Geissele R700 trigger is three-way adjustable for pull, overtravel, and number of stages. As configured in the two stage mode at Industry Day at the Range, the R700 trigger is virtually identical to the Geissele SSA-E AR-15 trigger. In single stage mode, it is most similar to Geissele’s SSP single-stage version of the SSA-E, revealed at last year’s SHOT Show.

How low can the AR market go? Pretty darn low, apparently. A recent sale at Ground Zero Precision brought the price of their TAC-15M rifle down below $400 – Well below.

Non-mainstream firearms like the Steyr AUG normally have a little aftermarket support. The development of new products with a small potential customer base is not always justified or results in an overly expensive product. Nevertheless, even if there is a very small demand, you’ll still find one or two companies offering upgrade parts for the relatively rare firearms. A company called Corvus Defensio located in Austria is specialized in making Steyr AUG upgrades. Let’s take a look at the five-part kit they offer.

Geissele has taken the step from manufacturing accessories, to making the guns themselves: The company released its new VSASS semiautomatic sniper rifle system at the Modern Day Marine 2017 industry demonstration. News of the new rifle was first broken by Soldier Systems Daily, via an article available at this link. The VSASS (which stands for Very-long-range Semi-Automatic Sniper System) is a Stoner-type direct gas impingement system built from the ground up by Geissele, utilizing very few off-the-shelf components. It sports a number of refinements, including an extended length barrel extension, hardened steel cam pin raceway, cobalt alloy cam pin, and other improvements to the operating group. Many internal surfaces are coated in the durable solid lubricant by Nano Composite Coatings, which appears to be owned by Bill Geissele. The VSASS uses SR-25 magazines, as well as Geissele’s SSA-E trigger. It weighs 12.3 pounds unloaded and without optic, according to the Soldier Systems article, with variants chambered for .260 Remington, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 7.62x51mm NATO.

Fabrique Nationale has announced updates to three models in their FN-15 rifle line. These three models – the FN-15 Tactical Carbine II, FN-15 .300 Blk Carbine II, and FN-15 DMR II – have been updated with more modern proprietary FN handguards with M-LOK slots, replacing the previous variants Midwest Industries M-LOK handguards. The new handguards mate to a new FN-made barrel nut, and are advertised to be more solid and rigid than the previous style.

Show at the Northwest Shooting Sports Expo, gaming company GAEMS has shown one of their latest wares, the GAEMS Rail System, which uses the common Picatinny rail specification and applies it for the electronic enthusiast. The new Rail System uses the now “old fashioned” quad rail to provide versatile mounting for a variety of devices.

About a month ago Midwest Industries leaked out this photo of their new Gen2 AK Handguard. I had to get one. The ability to mount a Trijicon MRO and co-witness irons is what sold me.
