Frontier Armory is a leading source of African firearm parts. In addition to their array of imported parts, they are also creating a US-made reproduction Halbek device. What is a Halbek device, exactly? The legendary Ian McCollum at Forgotten Weapons made a great video explaining what it was and how it worked.

I’m no stranger to double stack 1911’s, as I used to carry a Para Warthog over a decade ago, and I’ve shot many competition configured STI’s.  That Para Warthog went by the wayside years ago after I discovered improperly heat-treated parts (via them breaking while at the range).

When I first got back into guns as an adult, the range I would visit in the Bay Area had a Wilson Combat 1911 for rent. So I rented one exactly once, and after shooting it and looking up the price-tag I vowed never to touch another 1911, lest the fever get its hooks into me.

There are endless tactical black or multi-cam bags on the market claiming to be “low profile”. These same bags display numerous Velcro patches, have pals webbing on the outside of the bag, and scream gun! However, the industry is starting to listen to those wanting a quality pack in a very non-descript package. In order to accomplish this task, the bag has to be able to sit next to your standard North Face or Jansport pack and not look substantially different. Remington Arms Company announced another 1911 style handgun. This one is called the Model 1911 R1 Ultralight Commander.

During the West Virginia Remington writers seminar we were treated to viewing several very high grade limited edition 200th anniversary rifles and shotguns. Other guns will become available such as the R1 pistol.

Three weeks ago we leaked the news that Remington was going to produce a Model 1911 R1 Carry. Remington has just officially announced the new pistol.

Two years after buying AAC, Remington are slowly coming to terms with the fact that they are a suppressor manufacturer. They are now selling a version of the R1 1911 Enhanced with a threaded barrel.

At SHOT Show, Remington introduced a new version of their 1911 R1 handgun. Cosmetically is looks more modern than the more traditional looking original 1911 R1. I really liked the look when I saw it at the show.

While 1911s have been around for about 100 years, any new product line from a major firearm maker like Remington really is a big deal. The first reviews of the Remington 1911 R1 have started rolling in.

In November last year rumors started circulating that Remington would introduce a 1911 pistol. The Remington 1911 R1 has finally been officially announced.
