The Rimfire Report: The Strange Beretta U22 NEOS Pistol

Welcome back to TFB’s Rimfire Report, where we cover all things relating to rimfire cartridges. This week, we’ll take a jump back to the time when Beretta decided to create a pistol with a frame-mounted safety. All joking aside though, we’ll take a look at the science fiction-styled Beretta U22 NEOS chambered in .22LR. Even though the Beretta NEOS has since been discontinued, you can still find them for sale here and there at decent prices and Beretta still stocks some parts. Let’s take a look.

The Rimfire Report: The Five Most Affordable Rimfire Pistols Worth Buying

Welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its guns, history, ammunition, and shooting sports! Last week we talked about the key differences between 22WMR and 22LR and where each one shines and falls short. As an overall cartridge, 22LR leaves a lot to be desired in the accuracy and power departments but absolutely kills it in comparison to 22WMR when it comes to cost and versatility. Speaking of versatility, I like to be able to train on a budget with the ammunition that I have on hand – which a majority of is often 22LR. The world of rimfire firearms can be an expensive one, but rimfire handguns can also offer an affordable option for those on a budget. Rimfire cartridges are smaller and less powerful than centerfire cartridges, making them less expensive to produce and shoot and the guns are also often similarly less expensive but sometimes just as capable if your goal is training or just a fun afternoon at the range. So today, I’ll be lining up five of my favorite and most affordable rimfire pistols that are actually worth buying.

Hello and welcome back to another edition of  The Rimfire ReportThis ongoing series is a celebration and exploration of everything rimfire firearm related. We are all probably feeling the squeeze when it comes to the ammunition shortage. Even as rimfire shooters our ammunition has not only become scarce but has also skyrocketed in price leaving many plinkers looking for alternative ammunition that they otherwise wouldn’t pay any attention to. I recently came across a video on YouTube by Buffalo’s Outdoors that explores a relatively obscure .22LR ammunition for the American market – Vostok .22 Long Rifle Standard. The Rimfire Report: My Top 5 Favorite Plinking Targets

Plinking is fun. That’s all there is to it. For all the training, competing, hunting and drilling we do, shooting “just for fun” is something that we probably don’t do often enough. Paper targets are great for honing your accuracy, exposing bad habits or sighting in a new scope. But nothing quite compares to shooting a reactive target – especially with a rimfire round like .22LR or . 17HMR. Today on the Rimfire Report I’m going to list out 5 of my all-time favorite plinking targets.

NEW: Aim Rack 'Em Up AR500 Target System

Intelligent Target Systems has a slogan that neatly summarizes their newest addition to their product line: “We don’t always know what you’re up to…but we know what you’re up against.” And while the premise behind their slogan is simple – and true – not every industry business out there follows it. Basically, it means it takes a gun guy to know what other gun guys need. Keeping this in mind, companies should have experienced shooters designing their products. Furthermore, those shooters should be well-versed in the specific area of shooting they’re working in whether shotguns, handguns, hunting, or self-defense. In the case of Intelligent Target Systems’ new Air Rack ‘Em Up system, if you’re a rifle shooter with an interest in long-range shooting, you should take a closer look at these targets.

22Plinkster Takes On a Tacti-Cool 22 – The Aklys ZK-22 Bullpup Chassis

The ZK-22 bullpup chassis has a storied history. Originally developed at Red Jacket Firearms and featured prominently on one of their TV episodes, the ZK-22 started with the now ill-fated company with a slow release. New: Plinker Shooting System

In the world of firearms practice really does make perfect. You can never have too much target practice or too much ammunition, and the two conveniently go hand in hand – or hand-on-gun, as it were. Most shooters use a variety of methods to practice including visiting their local range to shoot paper and hitting their favorite outdoor shooting spots to blow away a variety of stationary objects. Some ranges employ moving targets or have small shoot houses available as well. Then there’s participation in events designed to hone marksmanship while also being enjoyable such as the steel plate shooting matches that many ranges host on a regular basis. There are quite a few options out there for the general public, and now there’s something new: Plinker.
