TFB Review: Braverman Stinger, The Non-NFA Pen Pistol
Pen guns are stereotypically an NFA item. They are considered AOW (Any Other Weapon) because of their concealed nature. Pete has an integrally suppressed AOW pen gun. However there is another option, the Braverman Stinger is a non-NFA pen pistol.
SILENCER SATURDAY #132: Suppressed Pen Gun – Two Stamp Quill
Good afternoon dear readers and Happy Independence Day for all our fellow Americans. Welcome back to another edition of TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by our friends at Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturer’s of the eagerly anticipated YHM R9 suppressor. Last week we debuted the Dead Air Nomad-TI, an excellent edition to their 30 caliber lineup. This week we go slightly off-grid with a Suppressed Pen Gun from Cotton Branch Custom Firearms – a two stamp Any Other Weapon (AOW) and silencer in a discreet form factor. No, I’m not an assassin in training; pen guns are unique firearms and suppressing one has been a goal of mine for a number of years. Let’s take a look.
POTD: Tactical RX Bullet Proof Glasses
Bret Hunter is the mad genius behind TacticalRX. He makes some very impressive eye protection. But not all eye protection are equal. His glasses are prescription. Prescription curved glasses typically only have the prescription in a certain spot but in Bret’s glasses the entire lens has the prescription. At Big 3 East he handed out some glasses for some torture testing. I had tested some of his glasses before by having the spall from 5.56×45 going directly into the lens. This time I shot the glasses point blank with a suppressed .25acp pen gun. I can confirm that TacticalRX has bullet proof glasses
A Pen That Is A Gun! | The Braverman Stinger
They say that the pen is mightier than the sword. That could be the case, especially when you are talking about the Braverman Stinger. In the early 90’s RJ Braverman had a dream of making that saying a reality. Braverman teamed up with the American Derringer Company to produce this James Bond inspired pen gun. It is notable that the pen is NOT an NFA item and can be bought just like any other handgun. After parting ways with American Derringer Company, the RJ Braverman company didn’t last long with such a niche product.
Forgotten Weapons: Stinger Pen Gun
When Edward Bulwer-Lytton coined the adage “the pen is mightier than the sword” back in 1839 for the purpose of a play, it seems a bit unlikely he was thinking there might one day be a pen gun. Over the years guns have been made in all manner of design with an eye for disguise or, at the very least, an eye for distraction. They’ve ranged from knife guns to belt buckle pistols to lighter guns and beyond. It really isn’t a stretch to create a pen gun, plus there’s that whole James Bond aspect. So it should come as no surprise that R.J. Braverman finally created a legal pen gun – yes, legal – one allowed by the ATF due to the simple fact that it actually does look like a firearm when it comes time to pull the trigger.
Single Shot .22LR Pen Guns
Here’s something out of James Bond’s arsenal, ok maybe Sean Connery’s Bond. Shadow Ops Weaponry is producing these cool little .22lr single shot pen guns. You’d better have a James Bond kind of budget for one however, they currently go for $495. They’re a limited run from Shadow Ops at only 500 made a year. They’re constructed of stainless steel, aluminum and brass, oh yeah they’ll require a $5 tax stamp from the ATF and will need to be transferred to a class 3 dealer as well.
Peg Gun – The ultimate CCW
This is very cool. Fits in a pocket. Max range is 16 feet, more than enough for self defense.
Stinger Pen Gun
RocketFoot @ PFOA has posted some great high-res photos of his Stinger pen gun chambered in .25 Auto.
