Zenith Z-5RS SB Classic | NRA 17
Zenith has quickly become the king of the roller locked sub guns thanks to them offering the most correct version of this firearm available in the US. The new arm brace version comes at a rather opportune time with the ATF’s reversal of their position in regards to the use of an arm brace.
Tactical Hearing | NRA 17
Tactical Hearing has committed their self to producing some of the best possible ear protection for both sport shooters and hunters alike. There are several different models of this high-end ear pro starting at about $1200 to above $5000 depending on options. Sure that seems excessive, but when you are adding 10 to 15 dB reduction to what you can get with the best ear pro on the market (that might still damage your hearing slightly) that price sure is a lot cheaper than a hearing aid or a new set of ears.
Springfield's Custom Shop 1911's | NRA 17
Far too often custom 1911 buyers overlook the wonderful resource that is the Springfield Armory Custom Shop. While on the NRA Annual Meeting show floor, Patrick got a chance to handle some of these legendary pistols that many dream of. The Professional 1911 is widely regarded as one of the finest duty 1911s on the planet, and after handling one it is easy to see why.
Springfield Armory XDE First Look | NRA 17
Just yesterday Springfield Armory introduced the new XDE pistol to the world at NRA’s Annual Meetings in Atlanta. Patrick gets a first look at the new hammer fired double/single action pistol on the show floor. With features like a 8 round single stack magazine and a safety/decocking lever, the new XDE is an interesting addition to the Springfield pistol lineup.
Brownell's Dream Guns | NRA 17
Brownell’s booth has a different approach this year at the NRA Annual Meeting. The theme is “Dream Guns”. Everything on display can be bought or built using parts bought from Brownell’s. Yes even the suppressors although they only sell those to local customers.
Volquartsen to Give Away "USA Themed" Scorpion Pistol at NRA Show
Volquartsen Firearms announced the company would be giving away a special “USA themed” Scorpion pistol at the upcoming National Rifle Association Annual Meetings. The rimfire pistol is similar to the one that Volquartsen Firearms donated to the NRA for a fund raising auction.
BREAKING: USCCA Has Been Disinvited To NRA Annual Meeting
In a press release issued yesterday, it was revealed that the USCCA has been disinvited to NRA Annual Meeting. The press release comes less than two weeks from the show and cited no reason other than s wild guess as to the NRA‘s motives. USCCA stated in the press release that their best guess is the move was a “strategic business maneuver” because the NRA recognizes the USCCA as a frontrunner in concealed carry related matters.
BREAKING: NRA moves High Power Matches to Camp Atterbury
In a move that will most likely resonate deeply around the entire NRA precision and rifle competition folks if fully approved in January of 2017, the NRA sponsored Civilian Marksmanship Program High Power matches will be moved from their traditional location in Camp Perry, Ohio where they have been held since 1907, to Camp Atterbury in southern Indiana. The move was apparently prompted by the director of NRA Competitive Shooting, and will face final approval by the NRA Board of Directors in January 2017. If enough support is garnered among the competition community by then, it could be feasible that it would be reversed, but we doubt that is the case. It appears that the decision had alot to do with location, in that shooters at the Smallbore Prone Championships in Bristol, Indiana would have more time getting to the High Power competition.

POTD: Nazi Belt Buckle Gun
NRA National Firearms Museum has this Nazi Belt Buckle gun in their collection. It is called the Marquis Nazi Belt Buckle Pistol. Looks to be chambered in 7.65mm. I cannot seem to figure out how this pistol is fired. I suspect it is loaded when the barrels are folded there by exposing the chamber. Then once it is deployed, I see two springs that line up with each barrel. Possibly they are released and somehow the lateral movement is transferred and strikes the primers.
VFOB (Veterans Family of Brands) Announced at NRAAM 2016
An announcement was made during this year’s NRA Annual Meeting (NRAAM) regarding a number of firearms industry businesses banding together for a common cause. The organization is called VFOB, which stands for Veteran’s Family of Brands. Of course, their name is also a reference to the military term FOB, Forward Operating Base. In the military an FOB is a secure base meant to provide support for operations. They’re important for a number of reasons, including the fact that they increase reaction time to the surrounding area. When VFOB’s founders sat down to discuss finalizing the name on the last day of SHOT Show 2016 they made it clear they wanted the organization to be seen as a source that could be trusted by consumers and relied upon by the military community: a firearms industry FOB. Now, in just a matter of months, their vision has come to fruition and is growing by leaps and bounds.

For 1911 fans, one of the major attractions of the 2016 National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting was Cabot Guns’ unveiling of a matched left/right set of fine custom 1911 pistols made from a hunk of meteorite that fell to Earth from outer space.
Final Newsstand Issue of Shooting Illustrated Is Out
With all the coverage here on TFB as well as on other sites concerning the recent NRA Annual Meeting (NRAAM) this particular announcement seems timely. You may have heard that Shooting Illustrated was recently named as the third in what will become a trifecta of Official Journal of the National Rifle Association magazines. American Hunter and American Rifleman have long since taken up the roles of publications available only to NRA members, in fact you could chart the progression of my life as a hunter by when I switched from American Rifleman to American Hunter. Those two magazines basically handle two aspects of the gun world: politics and hunting. (Yes it is true they each consider various issues, but those are accurate descriptions of their overall content.) Now, with Shooting Illustrated added in, members will be able to sign up for a magazine specifically dedicated to the shooting sports, training, and related gear. So why am I telling you this now?
