#MOA

Whether online or in person, we have all met that one shooter who claims their super special rifle (and finger) can shoot “1/4 MOA all day long”. First, ask them to explain the definition of MOA.  After they stumble through some strange combination of MILs and MOA, they will probably head back to their bench grumbling. (Or they will just log off the internet for a few hours).

The Department of the Army has recently released a gold mine including the updated Rifle & Carbine Training Circular Training Circular. This manual was last updated was 8 years ago in 2008.

While I am not a typical precision rifle shooter, I do occasionally go out and reach to the long ranges with a good bolt gun. Like many today, I was once confused on the two major systems for scope reticles that populate the market: Milliradians and Minutes-of-Angle.
