After our respective first forays into the Firearms Radio Network, Daniel Watters and I both were asked to return to the program for a Handgun Radio segment. Our topic for this week was machine pistols, their history, their relationship with PDWs, and the possibilities for their future. We cover the earliest documented machine pistol the Steyr-Hahn M.12/P.16, touch on the shadowy Russian Stechkin APS and the tiniest machine pistol, the Trejo, discuss short-barreled M1 and M2 Carbine conversions like the Enforcer, hash out the small caliber high velocity machine pistol concept as most successfully embodied in the H&K MP7, and answer the question: “What, exactly, is a PDW?”

Jeff sent us a photo showing him having some weekend fun with his MAC-10. The M-10 has a Lage Manufacturing MAX-10 upper receiver with EO-Tech sight. The MAX-10 upper reduces the rate of fire from the notoriously high 1,100 RPM of the regular M-10 upper to a more manageable 750 RPM. It also features a side cocking and reciprocating charging handle and full length rail.

A keen-eyed reader noticed that Masterpiece Arms have listed on their website a new MPA pistol chambered in 5.7x28mm. To accommodate the 30 round 5.7mm magazine (the same magazine used by the FN pistols?), they have a redesigned grip, which looks a lot more ergonomic than the aweful MAC-10 grip.

Masterpiece Arms have developed a California-Legal version of their Mac-10-patterned carbines. The Defender Carbine models MPA1SST, MPA20SST and MPA9300SST now include a magazine lock device that will prevent the magazine from being removed without a tool, thereby making it Cali-Legal.

The MPA22-T Pistol is a new MAC-10 styled pistol chambered in .22 LR. From the press release …

Masterpiece Arms are now selling their MPA (Mac-10 clone) carbines and pistols chambered in the .460 Rowland cartridge.

These photos are of a gold plated Cobray M11/9 (9mm) machine gun that is being auctioned at GunBroker. The suppressor is fake and bidding starts at $4,799.

Federal agents said Monday that these guns were found in T.I.’s home. The rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr.. was arrested over the weekend on federal weapons charges. He was ordered to remain in custody at least until Friday.

Last week the East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club had a machine gun shoot. Here is a video of the shoot. It has all the usual suspects: MP5, AR-15, MAC-10 etc. as well as a comparision of a unsuppressed and a Gemtech G5 suppressed AR-15.
