The Stoner legacy goes beyond just the AR-15. Several firearms designed either by Stoner or based off his work continue to impress modern shooters at the range and in use. One very notable such weapon is the Stoner 63 LMG, the weapon Larry Vickers has taken to the range for the first time in the video embedded below:

LAV is an exception. He is a celebrity and generally I choose to ignore celebrities. However, not everyone has LAV’s impressive resume and now long teaching career. As such, I am inclined to listen to him.

The Bren Ten was intended to be the ultimate handgun. A double-stack design with modern safety features and firing a powerful 10mm/.40 cal round, the Bren Ten was possibly the most hyped firearm of the pre-Internet era. Larry Vickers discusses and shoots it in the below video:

The Sturmgewehr is a rifle that will never lose it’s place in history; it is one of the single most influential weapons of the 20th Century. It is not the first of its kind, however, and we at TFB have previously taken a look at some of the rifle’s predecessors that it has since overshadowed. Larry Vickers has come at it from the other end; he and his signature StG-44 have been the subject of three shooting videos so far, each one well worth watching:

As part of his trip to Moscow, Russia, Larry Vickers was able to fire, for the first time, some of Arsenal Firearms’ scale miniature firearms. While miniature firearms are nothing new, Arsenal’s really are different in that they not only look like the full-size guns they replicate, they actually are the weapons, with everything from mechanisms to chambers replicated to scale. Unlike some other miniature firearms that replicate the look or even function of famous guns such as the M1919 or M2 while firing common calibers like .22 or .38 Special, the Arsenal reproductions fire scaled down ammunition; one can even see the belt of half-scale 8mm ammunition hanging from the miniature MG-34 in the second video.

At IDEX 2011 the Italians had a LAV (Light Armored Vehicle) that could launch a UAV (Unmanned Ariel Vehicle) from its main gun. Pretty nifty. I am not sure what model the LAV is.
