The moment I saw this picture I knew it would make a good Picture Of The Day here at TFB.

Not yet able to get the teased LDM/PRO complete, Scalarworks has been known to divert off the beaten path to beat another path – perhaps one that has been beaten quite a bit. The latest divergence is the introduction of a set of iron sights which as much as I want to make fun of them – are so high-speed low-drag that they are indeed cool.

Fresh off of the editing and framing masterpiece that is the “Inside the M4 Carbine” video, Larry Vickers does not seem to be resting on the upload button. His latest video features a unicorn AK-74 at least here in the United States.

Even since the resounding success of the “Inside the AK” videos ( Part 1 and Part 2), Larry Vickers has been at it hard with additional cut-away firing models of popular weapon systems. The previous release of the 1911, sponsored by Wilson Combat, was and is an utterly georgous example of shooting, machining, and video editing. Not content to let the people’s wants go unfulfilled, Vicker’s and BCM worked out their latest installment: “Inside the M4”

Just a few hours ago Larry Vickers released a teaser video of his new special edition Lipsey’s Glocks that are to be formally announced tomorrow, but it looks like someone might have spilled the beans. There is the possibility that the retailer made an assumption about what the new LAV Glock is going to look like, but the photos lead me to believe that they are accurate.

Often overlooked due to its smaller-caliber sibling, the original AR-10 was a fantastic weapon systems. In fact, if not for the thin barrel (later fixed), it may have likely supplanted the M14 within the US arsenal. For better or worse, it did not come to pass.

Wilson Combat and Larry Vickers have teamed up again, this time to support a firearms charity, GunsForACause.org. The specific 1911 was Larry’s personal carry and demo gun, a Wilson Combat Vickers’ Elite edition handgun, personally worked on by Larry himself and the Wilson Combat team.

This new book by Larry Vickers and James Rupley is a coffee table book that’s a testament to one of the most popular handguns in the United States for the past 100 years. Larry describes the influence the 1911 has had on him throughout his adult life as well as sharing his collection of 1911s as well as those of other 1911 enthusiast,world renowned gunsmiths and competitors.

It’s a class like this that gives one true appreciation for the craftsmanship of Nighthawk, Wilson Combat, and the other high-end 1911 manufacturers. I was naive to thinking that working for a firearms company, which we produce thousands of products each month on CNC and engineer and program new products daily would serve as a basis by which to leap into a properly hand-fit 1911.

While the PWS cut-away video from a couple years ago was fun to watch, this one is downright awesome. The cut-away is courtesy of Wilson Combat a notable expert in semi and full-custom 1911s. Using gratuitous slow-motion and multiple angles, Vicker’s showcases the inner workings of the ubiquitous handgun.

The new Arsenal MG-1M (a PKM variant) is taken to full-auto and and slow-motion task by Larry Vickers. The new machine gun is a blend of the original design but makes use of some modern tricks including a fluted and finned barrel that uses a CHF and chrome-lined barrel to increase the longevity of the barrel (Arsenal contends 30%).

While the test is certainly only covering only a single facet of what makes lubricant preform in the field (how much carbon debris comes out of the gun versus stays in it), its still fascinating to watch the ultra-slow motion of a Beretta M9 and AR-15 shooting in good light. Larry Vickers spends time with the brothers who created FireClean (who he does endorse).

While filled with plugs on his (fantastic) equipment, Larry Vickers and his Tac TV head back to Gunsite to tackle long range shooting after the 1 mile shot last year. Shooting past 1400 yards, Larry and his spotter, Gunsite Staff Instructor Walt Wilkenson (Master Sergeant, Retd.)

I, like many readers, value my time as a competitive shooter as part of a regime of practice for home and personal defense. However, it does have its limits, as shown by Larry Vickers. In this ‘Self Defense Scenario with a Pistol” video, he showcases how a competitive shooter would tackle a course and how one should in a real defense scenario.

Normally, I would roll my eyes at the mere mention of yet another celebrity-edition firearm, but I hate to say it, Larry Vickers’ Elite 1911 from Wilson Combat i s almost exactly as I would customize one a 1911 handguns down to the color scheme. As such, it may just be a reasonably priced Wilson Combat, all things considered ($3,850 base price).
