Next year Smith & Wesson will cease being the importer and distributor of Walther firearms in the USA. The owners of Carl Walther GmbH, the PW Group, have formed a new corporation called Walther Arms Inc which will taken over importing and distributing. Carl Walther GmbH will continue to manufacture the M&P22 pistol for S&W.

The press release, dated 21 September, was published the day before the press release announcing Triangle Capital’s $14.8 million Magpul investment. The wording of the press release makes me wonder if “buys Magpul” is a more accurate phrase than “significant investment in Magpul”.

Anvil Arms LLC, based in Lakeland, Florida, was a AR-15 manufacturer that abruptly ceased operations during the height of the AR-15 boom when the Managing Member, Jonathan A. Kruger, was terminated and the company ceased operations. Legal action was taken against Kruger by the new acting manager, Milton Disser, who alleged Kruger had removed all of the equipment, inventory and records from the Anvil Arms premises. Less than three months later the company was liquidated.
