With the Heckler & Koch MR223 A3 (European version) being virtually impossible to source in Europe as the Heckler & Koch factory has chosen to focus on finishing Military and Law Enforcement orders it is interesting to see the MR556A1 Upper Receiver Kit on offer in the US webshop.

Today’s Picture of the Day is of the Norwegian Air Mobile Protection Team (AMPT) as they protect a United Nations C130-J Hercules in Timbuktu and the Bamako Airport.

There are not enough pictures of the NAVY SEAL s here at TFB, but today we try to improve with some astonishing pictures of the SEALs in an unusual environment.

Back in April 2018, we reported that Germany’s Hesse state police were in search for a new 5.56x45mm rifle. German defence blog Strategie-Technik reports that Hessian state police have selected a variant of the Heckler & Koch HK416.

The recent arrest of Brazil’s former President Michel Temer on corruption charges – for the record, he was released some days later- by DPF – Departamento de Polícia Federal (Federal Police Department), while being driven from his home in São Paulo, was a quick opportunity to see one of the weapons in the inventory of the local feds. The agent seen in the sole picture made public is holding a 5.56x45mm Bushmaster XM15-E2S rifle fitted with an EOTech EXPS3 holographic red dot sight and its correspondent 3X magnifier. The “GPI” on the agent’s vest stands for Grupo de Pronta Intervenção (Quick Intervention Group), a crack unit created in 2009 to deal with very special situations on a nationwide basis.

Maxim Defense is coming out with a tiny little PDW dubbed the PDX. At Range Day, The Firearm Blog had a shooting bay all to ourselves. This allowed for vendors to book an appointment and bring their latest and greatest to us for a more intimate look at their products. Maxim’s appointment was later in the afternoon and they were running low on 7.62×39 so they brought along a 5.56x45mm variant of the PDX.

The HK416 is somewhat of an icon in the firearms industry. Due to the fact the HK416 is the military/LE designation they are typically select fire and not available to civilians. Heckler & Koch has the civilian version MR556 and MR223 and are semi-auto versions of the HK416. But ask any HK fan, it is not the same. Hurricane Butterfly has imported a small batch of HK416 semi auto pistols but be prepared for some sticker shock.

Heckler and Koch had their new .22LR HK416 clone rifle and pistol at range day. Some of you may recall a similar set of HK416 clones by Umarex/Walther. These are based on the same gun but brought under H&K USA control.

Did you know that the The Norwegian Armed Forces were the first customer to adopt the HK416 in the year of 2007?

Last August the German Ministry of Defence brought the Bundeswehr’s newest rifle to the US Army’s Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona for testing. The G95K was put through gruelling environmental testing which simulated real-world conditions similar to those found in Afghanistan.

If you recall, The Firearm Blog broke the news back in March that Brownells was importing HK416 components. They first offered their HK417 parts for sale back in early September. Well now they will be selling their HK416 parts as well as offering their newly manufactured parts up for pre-order on Veteran’s Day, Monday November 12. Their 416 profile lowers, the BRN-4, will also be up for pre-order.

At the beginning of the year we shared some great Heckler & Koch product photos taken by German photographer Oliver Louven. Louven, a Bundeswehr veteran and photographer specialising in firearms photograph, has since shared some more photos of Heckler & Koch’s range of small arms.

Remember last March? We learned that Brownell’s was acquiring and importing HK416 and HK417 components. Well last August 13 they posted the photo above and below of their shipment of HK 416/417 parts.

Our second installment of the new Build of the Week feature was submitted by Victor (from Brazil). This is a concept “dream” build that he sent in with the hopes of someday being able to build out a version of it (he has sent in four revisions so far)…  I know we have some HK nerds that read this blog, so help him out in the comments with pros and cons of the components, the feasibility of the build, etc.  There is a lot going on in the below list.
