POTD: Team France at USASOC Sniper Competition
From time to time it happens. We got a fan mail and a private contribution to our Photo Of The Day. Attached was an image taken at this year’s USASOC Sniper Competition at Fort Bragg. This competition happened a few months ago, and the image shows one of the Special Forces soldiers whom Team France sent to compete. He is running a B&T Rotex-V suppressor, as they all do on their Heckler & Koch HK416s. We love quality contributions like this.
POTD: M27 IAR – Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force
Our Photo Of The Day takes place at an undisclosed location, which I’m sure makes people even more curious. Above we see a U.S. Marine with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, who is assigned to the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command. He’s participating in a combat marksmanship range in the United States Central Command Area of Operations. Note the tourniquet and the scissors in the plate carrier.

Bundeswehr Rifle Debacle: Germany Set to Select HK416 A8?
Germany’s rifle debacle continues with the German government looking set to award the Bundeswehr rifle contract to the only other contender – Heckler & Koch. With Haenel disqualified after infringements of Heckler and Koch’s patents (for the magazine and water drainage holes in the receiver) were found, Germany’s options narrowed dramatically. In October the Bundeswehr’s contract with Haenel for the MK556 was officially withdrawn.
POTD: German MG3 Machine Gun, HK416 and G3
We recently had a look at not so common SG-43 Goryunov Machine Gun. Today it’s time for the more common German MG3 machine gun. Above you can see a student assigned to the U. S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. He is in the Special Forces Weapons Sergeant Course, in the best class of them all – the foreign weapons training. The location is Fort Bragg, North Carolina May 13, 2020.
POTD: Hille James – Winner of Combat Documentation Operational
Photo Of The Day is back after an extremely busy week of Press Releases and Product Announcements and what a photo! Hille James won the “Combat Documentation Operational” in the Military Visual Awards 2019 with this entry, and it’s easy to see why. A soldier with two of his best friends – the issued firearm and his dependable K9 dog.

Investigators have reportedly moved to secure evidence for the patent infringement case between Haenel and Heckler & Koch.

Photo Of The Day and we take a look at Special Operational practice between Hungarian and Slovak soldiers during the Jackal Cave 2020 exercise. My knowledge of the Hungarian language is a bit weak, but the place seems to be called “Újdörögdön”. I’ll leave the pronunciation up to you, but I hope you give it a few tries.
