POTD: Team France at USASOC Sniper Competition

From time to time it happens. We got a fan mail and a private contribution to our Photo Of The Day. Attached was an image taken at this year’s USASOC Sniper Competition at Fort Bragg. This competition happened a few months ago, and the image shows one of the Special Forces soldiers whom Team France sent to compete. He is running a B&T Rotex-V suppressor, as they all do on their Heckler & Koch HK416s. We love quality contributions like this.

POTD: M27 IAR – Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force

Our Photo Of The Day takes place at an undisclosed location, which I’m sure makes people even more curious. Bundeswehr Rifle Debacle: Germany Set to Select HK416 A8?

Germany’s rifle debacle continues with the German government looking set to award the Bundeswehr rifle contract to the only other contender – Heckler & Koch. With Haenel disqualified after infringements of Heckler and Koch’s patents (for the magazine and water drainage holes in the receiver) were found, Germany’s options narrowed dramatically. In October the Bundeswehr’s contract with Haenel for the MK556 was officially withdrawn.

C.G. Haenel Raided During Investigation into Bundeswehr Rifle Debacle

We have been following the development of the Bundeswehr’s ongoing efforts to procure a rifle for some time, now it has emerged that C.G. Haenel’s headquarters in Suhl have been visited by investigators on the orders of the Dusseldorf Regional Court. Investigators have reportedly moved to secure evidence for the patent infringement case between Haenel and Heckler & Koch.

BREAKING: Bundeswehr Withdraw Order for Haenel MK556

The German government has withdrawn their order for 120,000 Haenel MK556 rifles. Last month C.G. Haenel were awarded a major contract to replace the Bundeswehr’s G36 service rifle. The Haenel MK556 was selected over the Heckler & Koch HK416 and HK433. Heckler & Koch subsequently filed an appeal of the decision and today it seems the contract has been withdrawn following investigation.

Polish Special Forces Seek Carbines

Poland’s  Jednostka Wojskowa Formoza and Jednostka Wojskowa GROM, both key elements of the Polish Special Forces, are seeking to procure new carbines. JW Formoza are seeking a new modular carbine while JW GROM are seeking an unspecified number of Heckler & Koch HK416 carbines. A tender notice was published by Poland’s state treasury on behalf of JW Formoza on the 12 June announcing the desire to procure an unspecified number of modular carbines. While a second tender from JW GROM was issued on the 16 June.
