If you’ve always wanted to build your own HK416 derivative, Brownells has you covered. Their newly manufactured, assembled BRN-4 uppers are the perfect starting point. These uppers fit on a standard AR-15 lower receiver. 

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg will equip its armed forces with the HK416 A7. Luxembourg will replace the Steyr AUGs currently in service with weapons from Heckler & Koch through a contract worth 8.4 million Euros ($9.2 million).

Hille James, the photographer named this one: “Everything looks magical when it snows,” and when you have a photoshoot with what I think is a Heckler & Koch HK416, or possibly the SIG Sauer MCX, with such a talented man behind the camera we couldn’t agree more.

TFB has been running our Photo Of The Day for almost 10 years, and the archives keep growing every day. Thanks to the database, you can search thousands of modern and historic photos of soldiers and firearms. Today we’re looking at German Spezialeinsatzkommandos (SEK) moving under simulated fire during SEK training. The location is the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) near Hohenfels, Germany. SEK specialize in riot control, hostage negotiations, rescue missions, and fighting terrorism.

TV and film guns are always going to be popular collector’s items and while some of them are often creations directly from the bench of a deranged gunsmith, some prop movie guns are meant to be literal representations of real-world firearms. In this particular example on Gunbroker, we see an H&K MR556A1 SBR that is intended to resemble an HK416D that was used by the US Navy Seals during the raid on Bin Landen’s compound back in 2011. This firearm was converted for use with blanks by Point Blank Props’ for use during the filming of the movie Zero Dark Thirty, a Hollywood thriller based on the events surrounding the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. What’s cool about this particular collector’s item is that instead of its movie-ready black firing adapter configuration, this particular prop gun has been restored to work with live ammunition.

The hungriest beast of them all on this blog is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and it has been doing so for over 9 years. Today we offer a bunch of images from the Al Asad Air Base, in Iraq. This military airbase is located in the western Iraqi province of Al Anbar. It is situated approximately 180 kilometers west of the capital city of Baghdad and 10 kilometers south of the town of Baghdadi. The airbase is named after the nearby town of Al Asad.

Brownells just announced a new HK416-pattern upper receiver kit, the BRN-4. This piston-driven upper is compatible with standard AR-15 lower receiver groups.

TFB’s  Photo Of The Day and we find ourselves in Aqaba, Jordan, where Jordanian service members assigned to the Maritime Counter Terrorism Team, maintain security at a pier during close-quarter battle drills. This happened during the Eager Lion training exercise in September 2022.

One of the purposes of TFB’s Photo Of The Day is to broaden the audience for the excellent work done by professionals from combat photography to still and action photography of firearms. A perfect picture may take everything from a split second to months of planning, and it would be sad to see that kind of work go unnoticed. Considering that these images were taken onboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) in the Atlantic Ocean it makes the challenge to produce high-quality images even harder. Above you can see a really good image of the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle with the Trijicon VCOG 1-8×28 rifle scope. The U.S. Marine is Lance Cpl. Camron Edwards, a rifleman with Golf Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Our Photo Of The Day article series brings together some of the most eye-catching and visually appealing images. You won’t find a lot of pictures of sunsets, flowers or touristic landmarks here, instead the photo selection spans from soldiering, firearms and special units. Today we get a quick glimpse at the Estonian Special Forces and their equipment.

Photo Of The Day: If you thought the word “Italian” in the title was going to save you from seeing firearms Made in Germany, you were wrong. You’re probably as surprised as me that there are no Beretta ARXs. Here we have the Exercise Goldfinger 2021 where Special Forces, Air Forces and Amphibious Forces of the Navy train in the field of maritime counter-terrorism.

The HK416 is known for running without fail in all sorts of environments. This is why so many military and police forces have adopted the gun. It’s also known for being noticeably heavier than some other systems. Giving two new handguard options to HK416/MR556 owners (including one to save some weight), Strike Industries has released their new GRIDLOK handguards for the HK416/MR556/M27 IAR.

Photo Of The Day, or the Heckler & Koch of the day, is the G95K. Here seen with German Special Forces KSK and a quick burst of 5.56mm NATO in the air. The Heckler & Koch G95K (HK416) has a barrel length of 14.5″.

Still life photography is a genre with a large gray area between fine art and documentary photography. Add a firearm to the picture and some will frown and some will cheer. We’re pretty sure you’ve come to our  Photo Of The Day to give two thumbs up for this collection. The soldier in the picture carries a Heckler & Koch HK416 and uses the MP7 from the same company as a backup. If we had a vote, I’m pretty sure this combination would win or at least place top 3 with almost any competition thinkable.
