As hard as it is to believe, the film Blood Diamond came out 17 years ago, and while most gun nerds immediately think of the Colt CAR-15 as the defacto firearm from this movie, I’m here to show off it and a few others. This film is actually stuffed to the brim with guns, (23 to be exact) so let’s look at a few of them.

In today’s  Photo Of The Day, we take a look at the main firearm of the Swedish Home Guard (National Security Forces) in the hands of a U.S. Special Forces Group member. He uses the Swedish Ak 4B during FID training (Foreign Internal Defense) with the Swedish Home Guard late last year.

Photo Of The Day – The muzzle blast of the machine gun lights up the dark and dense forest as the Brigade Franco-Allemande ( French-German Brigade) does a surprise attack. The machine gun is MG3, made by Rheinmetall and chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. We’re looking at the 3rd Company of the Jägerbataillon 292 as they practice fighting in the forest.

The Portuguese NAVY joins the Swedish Army and Home Guard in bringing eternal life to the Heckler & Koch G3 by buying the Spuhr Upgrade Kit for their service rifles.

According to a Greek website called Via Diplomacy, the Hellenic Armed Forces will test the Adcor Defence Adcor A-556 Elite rifles to evaluate the possibility of adoption. They have signed an initial agreement with Adcor Defense and  Hellenic Defence Systems S.A. The former will provide six Adcor A-556 Elite rifles and the latter – 2,000 rounds of 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition. The testing of the rifles will be conducted by the General Directorate for Defence Investments & Armaments of Ministry of National Defence of Greece.

James Grant of Burst Review puts a Century Arms C308 to the test by firing 1,000 rounds of 7.62×51 without stopping. Obviously he had to stop for magazine changes.  The C308 is a clone of the proven H&K G3 rifle. There are some malfunctions due to rounds not extracting. My favorite line is “It kinda smells like CRAYONS!”

Very cool! But it weights 6.5 Lbs / 2.95 kg when loaded!
