"Do not try to catch a dropped gun" & "Slow isn't Fast"
Gun bloggers Say Uncle and Caleb Giddings have both published guest articles at Shooting Illustrated. Both articles are worth reading.
Happy Birthday 1911!
The M1911 pistol was officially adopted by the US Army on 29 March 1911. Two years later it was adopted by the Navy and Marine Corps. Today, a hundred years later, it has never been more popular with shooters worldwide. It is also still in service. Last year the USMC purchased an additional 4000 1911 pistols in the M45 Close Quarters Combat Pistol configuration.

Taurus Carbine
The Taurus Carbine CT G2 is a very nifty carbine that will be introduced into the US market this year. It is built from polymer lower (with build in magwell handguard) and aluminum lower. It has a 16″ barrel and is chambered in 9mm (34+1 capacity), .40 S&W (15+1 capacity) and .45 ACP (10+1). I really liked the feel of it. I can’t remember the pricing, it was somewhere around $700.
Rhino revolver in brushed nickel
Chiappa’s Rhino Revolver is now available in a very attractive brushed electroless nickel finish. Both the aluminum frame and steel cylinder get the nickel treatment.
MagCount Electronic Mag Ammo Counter
MagCount attaches to the bottom of a magazine and displays the current round count on an electronic display. It looks pretty cool and futuristic, but I don’t think there is a need for this.
Tacticool Christmas Stockings
I am not sure who makes these. If you know, please post a link in the comments.
The Tower of London's Golden Guns
Jesse emailed in these photos taken by his brother at the Tower of London. I have never seen photos of these guns before. My favorite is the revolver.
Bullets on ice
This video shows a bullet spinning like a top after being shot into ice. I do not know how safe this is but the results are amazing.
Congrats to Aurelien
I want to congratulate long-time reader and contributor Aurélien on the publication of his first “major work”, a special edition of the French magazine RAIDS. The edition is entitled “le pistolet au combat” (the handgun in battle). It covers the evolution of the combat handgun, and has articles about the M1911, the GP35/BHP, the 92, the P22X, GLOCKs and Makarov pistols.
