Fascinating Phenomenon in Cylinder Gap Data

During the past few days I have been absorbing the data collected during the BBTI Project’s cylinder gap tests. I noticed a strange anomaly. For each of the cylinder gaps tested, as the barrel length increases so does effect on velocity increases (as compared to having no cylinder gap at all), up until a certain point, then the effect on velocity starts to decrease.

Franklin Armory XO-26b: Has Franklin Hacked the NFA?

Franklin Armory is producing a weird AR-15 they call the XO-26. It is essentially a Short Barreled Rifle with a vertical foregrip and no stock. What is especially interesting is that the BATFE don’t consider it a SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) or a AOW (All Other Weapon) therefore is needs no special NFA paperwork to purchase and own. If it was classified as a pistol, like all other short barreled pistol-type AR-15s, using a forward vertical grip would be illegal. I can see other AR-15 pistol makers jumping on this BATFE ruling and producing their own quasi-pistol AR-15s.

If you use multiple holsters for the same gun, this video is a MUST watch.

Sig Sauer P210: A "Legend" Reborn

The Sig P210 is without a doubt an iconic handgun, highly respected for being an incredibly accurate firearm. However, the design didn’t lend itself to rapid and easy production, and as I was told by various sources in Europe, quality varied with the mood of the workforce.

New KRISS Sphinx Pistols at IWA

Perhaps the most impressive booths at IWA came from Switzerland – KRISS Group and RWS went all-out with details such as live music, waitresses serving free alcohol, and Swiss chocolate being handed out like, well, candy. While I didn’t spend much time at RWS, I was definitely taken in by the variety of products on display at the KRISS/Sphinx booth, such as the Sphinx pistols. They’re an interesting departure from standard pistol design and manufacture, as the frame is manufactured in upper and lower segments and then joined together.
