Taurus Curve Review
When the Curve first came out, the two general reactions were either, “Wow, what a neat idea, conturing to the curve of a torso or waist”. Or, “Good Initiative, bad judgement”. Whatever camp your opinions fall in, we’ve taken an objective look at the Curve at TFB and will attempt to give as comprehensive review of the handgun as possible for our readers.

We first reported on the Chiappa 9x19mm NATO Kalashnikov Pistol last year on TFB, promising a review. This review will consist of the Chiappa Pistol with both Glock and CZ magazine inserts.
Czech Small Arms Introduces vz.15 Ultra Low Bore Axis Pistol
Is 2017 the Year of the Low Bore Axis? It seems like it just might be! Amid a sea of other pistols advertised as having low bore axes ( some of which do deliver on that claim), the Jablunka-based Czech Small Arms has introduced a new pistol with about as low a bore axis as is possible on a gun with the magazine feeding through the grip. The new handgun was introduced at IWA 2017, and is called the vz.15. CzechPoint posted photos of the new gun on their Facebook page:
Bill Wilson Carry II Pistol / Another New Pistol From Wilson Combat
Ever wonder what the owner or CEO of a gun company carries for self-defense? Bill Wilson is the creative force behind Wilson Combat, and the company is now offering a clone of the custom gun he developed for his own use. According to the company, the new Bill Wilson Carry II pistol is an exact copy of the gun that he carries on a regular basis – both in the office and out on the ranch. ( This is the original Bill Wilson Carry pistol.)
Modern Personal Defense Weapon Calibers 010: The 9x19mm and 9x21mm Russian Special AP
One potential solution to the problem of a suitable anti-armor pistol and submachine gun round is to take the existing ammunition system and introduce one or more new kinds of ammunition which provide additional armor piercing capability through higher muzzle velocity and tougher core material. This is the route taken in Russia, where in the mid-1990s was introduced several loads for the Western 9x19mm caliber, as well as a new but fairly conventional round, the 9x21mm, also with optional AP load.
BREAKING: Immigration & Customs Enforcement Adopts the SIG P320 Modular Handgun
The rumor we reported on earlier appears to now be official: Immigration and Customs Enforcement has adopted the SIG P320C as their next service handgun. News of SIG’s win was confirmed by a post on pistol-forum.com containing a leaked screenshot of a new article on ICE’s internal website, with the headline ICE Picks a New Service Handgun.
Plinker Dual Strike Pneumatic Targets
Plinker is an automated target company that is bringing to market a dual target system that can be swung into place and controlled off a electronic device. It works off of a pneumatic operated canister that propels the target frame into and out of place. The system is specifically designed for Law Enforcement application because it can replicate a Shoot-No Shoot scenario by first introducing a Shoot target with a firearm printed, and then introducing a No Shoot target with a hostage image printed on it. In addition, the system is really just a dual target holder, so it can really be used with any sort of target attached to frames that can be inserted into the target system. For an example anything fitting the dimensions of an IDPA target can be used if one wants to. From the description-

Rare Colt Combat Commander in the Wild
A curious reader sent these photographs in, of what appears to be a very limited edition Colt Combat Commander. Limited edition due to the suppressor sights, threaded barrel, and front picatinny rail section. The current and original version of the Combat Commander does not come with these three features and more or less represents a standard compact 1911. Manufacturing ceased several decades ago after the handgun went a long period of acclaim, beginning in the Second World War with the introduction of the Officer’s Model. Colt re-introduced the Commander in 2017 for the 1911 enthusiast who would also want to conceal carry a compact 1911.
Iranian Striker Fired Polymer Handgun Introduced
At a recent display of small arms and light weapons in Tehran, the Iranian defense industry showcased a number of new products, as reported by Fars News. Among the products on display, a certain handgun was shown that hasn’t been reported on previously. From the very little mention of it in the Farsi text, there isn’t much information that can be gathered from the article or elsewhere on the internet about the handgun. The right side appears to have “M9-02”, but that doesn’t tell us very much.
Canadians Looking For New Service Handgun
Possibly one of the last of the Five Eyes countries to retain a Second World War era handgun, the Canadian Forces announced plans to begin the solicitation and testing process of finding a handgun to replace the currently issued 9x19mm Browning Hi-Powers. According to the National Post, current Hi Power numbers are hovering around 13,000 and are degrading by every year of usage, especially through being carried on deployments to Afghanistan. From the news article-
P3 Semi-Automatic Handgun Racker
The P3 Racker is a new product that was specifically designed for those with disabilities or the elderly, persons who might otherwise not have sufficient hand strength to functionally rack the slide on a semi-automatic handgun. Although I cannot see this tool being used in a self-defense situation, this allows for those who still want to enjoy a handgun collection at the range, without having to jeopardize any safety aspect, or overexerting when using the handgun.
GRAPEVINE: US Army Pays $207 Per Pistol to SIG SAUER for M17 Modular Handguns
With SIG’s recent win of the $580 million dollar contract for the US Army’s Modular Handgun System pistol, many are asking just how the American outlet of the Swiss-German SIG Sauer could have won such a large contract, especially against what many perceived was the strongest contender, Glock. Some saw the very text of the MHS solicitation as being biased towards SIG’s entry (which I do not think is true), while others assumed some backdoor deal must have occurred.
