New 2025 Gunsite Class Lineup – New and Classic Classes
Jeff Cooper’s legendary Gunsite Academy is still in operation today and still serves students from all walks of life and skill levels. The original ‘American Pistol Institute’ (API) now known as Gunsite Academy offers classes on multiple levels of instruction in handgun, carbine, shotgun, bolt action rifle, and precision rifle disciplines. While Gunsite has had a strong class lineup that’s served students for years, Gunsite CEO Ken Campbell and the crew have decided that it’s finally time to get the upcoming 2025 Gunsite class schedule a bit of a facelift to adapt to all the modern shooting techniques and firearms technology that has been developing, and also give students a fresh set of courses to enjoy that haven’t been around for a while.
[SHOT 2023] Glock officially launches the New Gunsite G45
As previously reported on TFB, new this year from Glock will be a Davidson’s dealer exclusive Gunsite G45. Designed as a collaboration between Glock, Gunsite and Holosun, the Gunsite G45 was designed to be a robust fighting pistol in the vein of what Col. Jeff Cooper would want to see in a fighting handgun. The Gunsite G45 has a Holosun optic as the main sighting system, with iron sights as backup. The magazine release and trigger connector have also been modified to Gunsite’s specs. Finally, a removable lanyard loop in the grip frame and a Gunsite logo on the top of the slide round out the Glock/Gunsite G45.
Wilson Combat "Gun Guys" Video Series with Bill Wilson and Ken Hackathorn
Wilson Combat launched a video series on their YouTube channel where Bill Wilson and Ken Hackathorn talk about guns and practical shooting. The series is called Gun Guys. What makes it especially valuable is that they share their experience and tell stories from the days when practical shooting was just becoming a thing and the part of the firearms industry supporting it was experimenting with different ideas and concepts.
Ruger Sneaks 6.5 Creedmoor Gunsite Scout To Market As Davidson's Exclusive
It looks like Ruger quietly rolled out a 6.5 Creedmoor Gunsite Scout as a Davidson’s exclusive without so much as a peep as far as I can tell. With the 6.5 Creedmoor skyrocketing in popularity, it only makes sense that Ruger rolls out a Gunsite Scout chambered for the super flat shooting cartridge.
Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle in 450 Bushmaster
Sturm, Ruger & Co. announced a caliber addition to the Gunsite Scout Rifle series: the 450 Bushmaster. This is the second 450 Bushmaster rifle the company has introduced in the past few months. The previous announcement covered a new Ruger American Rifle in the caliber.
Learning to Run a Bolt-Action For Real – Chris Baker Goes Over Getting Started in Practical Rifle Shooting
When it comes to my shooting hobbies, sometimes I feel like a bit of a black sheep. I am neither a race gun driver, nor a benchrest shooter. I don’t blast IDPA targets and Texas stars with an STI DVC Open, or break 200 rounds per minute cyclic smoking brown cardboard with my braked JP Enterprises AR-15. I don’t compete in F-Class, and I don’t even do Cowboy Action (cue a complete lack of surprise from our readers).
Firearms Food for Thought: Conditions of Readiness
When Col. Jeff Cooper came up with what he called the conditions of readiness he had the 1911 in mind. Cooper was a 1911 man – well, he was also a 10mm man, but that’s another story. For those who are unfamiliar with the various conditions, here they are explained as briefly as possible:
Gunsite Announces New Classes
Gunsite Academy, which was originally founded in 1976 by Colonel Jeff Cooper as the American Pistol Institute, has announced they’ll be adding to their class lineup in 2016. Gun owners come from all over the country to attend classes at Gunsite, and with options ranging from self-defense to hunting to Defensive Vehicle Tactics Training, there’s always something new to learn. Learning takes place thanks to the instructors at Gunsite, who an impressive bunch; each of them possesses a specific skill set in addition to being fantastically proficient with pistols. An opportunity to learn from the team at Gunsite is one that should never be passed by, and with the addition of even more classes, the reasons to make the trip just keep piling up.
Gunsite Academy Coming to Virginia
Gunsite Academy, the firearms training institute founded by Colonel Jeff Cooper, is bringing its modern pistol techniques to Virginia. The respected academy is partnering with the Colonial Shooting Academy in Richmond, Virginia. Colonial was SHOT Business Magazine’s Range of the Year in 2013 and is also a National Shooting Sports Foundation 5-Star Range. It’s also home to the biggest indoor range in the United States. Classes coming to the Virginia-based academy include those like Gunsite’s 250 Defensive Pistol Course, which is the academy’s most popular course which was started back in 1976 by none other than Col. Jeff Cooper himself.
Remington Versa Max Tactical With Trijicon Reflex Optics
This is the first time I’ve had a chance to shoot the Remington Versa Max Tactical with optics I would deem appropriate for shotgun use. These optics are the Trijicon RMR and standard size reflex Trijicon sight.
