Wheelgun Wednesday: The Ruger GP100
On this edition of TFB’s Wheelgun Wednesday, we’ll take a look at the stout-hearted Ruger GP100, chambered in .357 Magnum. The GP100 holds a special place in my collection as it was the first revolver I bought just shy of 20 years ago. When I decided to buy my first revolver, the Ruger GP100 wasn’t winning any beauty contests, but I didn’t think it was outright ugly either. The price was very reasonable, especially given the great reputation for its reliability. Let’s dig in.
Ruger's Three New 7-Round GP100 Revolers
Sturm, Ruger & Co. announced three new revolvers in its GP100 line of revolvers. Like the base GP100, these three guns are chambered for the .357 Magnum cartridge. Unlike any of the other guns in this line, all three of these wheelies have a cylinder that holds seven cartridges.
MYTH BUSTED! No Reason for .357 Magnum Snubnose Revolvers? NOT SO, Says Luckygunner Test
We’ve all heard that one before, right? “There’s no point to the .357 Magnum in a snubnosed revolver, from a barrel that short you might as well carry a .38.” Well, thanks some some exhaustive testing by Chris Baker and the LuckyGunner Labs team, turns out that’s not really true.
Ruger GP100 .44 Special : Elmer Keith Would Have Loved It
The Ruger GP100 .44 Special comes at a rather opportune time since the .44 Special turns 100 this year. In this episode of TFB TV, Patrick takes a revolver to the range that would have pleased Elmer Keith or any.44 special devotee. The GP100 is a tried and true design that has been around since 1985 and has been chambered in .357 Mag, .38 Spl, 327 Federal Mag, .22lr and now .44 Special.
Ruger Rolls Out Uncommon Calibers in their GP100 & Redhawk
We are officially less than a month away from SHOT Show now and the new models for 2017 continue to roll in. Ruger recently announced two new caliber offerings in their GP100 and Redhawk line of revolvers. Although it is not uncommon to see revolvers chambered in .44 Special or .357 Magnum nowadays, it is less common in these specific models. The beefier frame of the GP100 plays host to the new .44 Special while the Redhawk downgrades from its typical .44 Magnum caliber to .357 Magnum.
Ruger GP100 in .22 LR
Sturm, Ruger & Co. introduced a new GP100 revolver chambered for the classic .22 LR. The new rimfire wheelgun will operate much the same as the other current production GP100 revolvers, but with a few changes and an increased price tag.
Ruger GP100 Match Champion – Adjustable Sights
Ruger announced the introduction of a new GP100 Match Champion revolver with adjustable sights. This compliments the fixed sight Match Champion the company introduced about a year ago.
Ruger GP100 and Blackhawk in .327 Federal Magnum
Ruger has embraced the .327 Federal Magnum and added it to their line of GP100 and Blackhawk revolvers.
