We all have dreamed about having our own time machine. Some of us would travel back to witness historical events, visit with distant ancestors or to memorize next week’s winning lottery numbers. But those of us who are true firearms aficionados often drift off to a place where classic, rare or historic guns are actually obtainable. Once your hands were filled with pre-1986 machineguns, most collectors would gravitate towards their core interests. For me, one of those guns would be a low serial number, new-in-box GLOCK Gen 1 G17. Today, Lipsey’s and GLOCK have offered us the next best thing: a classic edition GLOCK P80 that takes you back to where it all started.

Brownells has released new versions of their Gen 3 Glock slides that are milled to take Aimpoint ACRO P-1 red dot sights. The ACRO cut is machined directly into the slide and oriented as low as possible still retaining the compatibility with OEM Glock slide parts.

Today’s Photo Of The Day was found on Glock’s social media pages. The pistols standing in a formation show the evolution of the iconic Glock 17 from Gen1 (far left) to Gen5. They may look very similar but there are certain appearance differences that can help you quickly and easily distinguish the different generations of G17 pistols. Let’s take a look.

Alongside the new G45, GLOCK is announcing a few additions to the modular optic-ready lineup.The G17 MOS and G19 MOS both get the Gen5 treatment. But like their G45 cousin, the new GLOCKs are also blessed with forward slide serrations and the deletion of the grip cutout on the front strap. The new MOS pistols will be available for purchase in less than two weeks.

Strike Industries has published on their social media pages images of a Glock 17 slide prototype that is expected to hit the shelves soon. Although no details are released concerning the materials, coatings, and design of this slide in general, we can still make some assumptions based on the mentioned images. After long decades of mainly using pistols locally made by Forjas Taurus, Brazilian LE agencies have been turning their attention to products from overseas manufacturers, mainly in the wake of multiple reports of technical/safety issues with the “bull brand” weapons. It should be recalled that IMBEL – Indústria de Material Bélico do Brasil has been a longtime supplier of pistols for the armed forces and  some police forces, but, somehow, their single-action M1911-based guns are not so popular in the local LE scenario, although some models have been adopted by local agencies.

Earlier we reported about the Umarex announcement of their agreement with Glock of manufacturing licensed airsoft and BB Glock replicas. Now, Umarex has added the Glock branded airguns to their website and released videos showcasing these new pistols. Let’s take a look at key features and the released model line.

We all know that Glocks are the glorified tinkerer-toy of the handgun world. With decades of reliability, law enforcement backing and an abundance of aftermarket parts, many manufacturers want to get in on the game.

There is an ever-growing abundance of Glock after-market parts available for consumers. The Glock pistol, whether you love it or hate it, is embraced by the entire world in varying capacities. It is the Lego set of pistols. The tinker toy of handguns. Like an AR-15, they are interchangeable and endlessly customizable. With so many companies that already are in the saturated market of Glock parts, why would anyone new try to step into the foray? Well, to make a long explanation short, they are more than experienced and capable enough to produce top tier products at an affordable and competitive price. Who is they you might ask? Glock has just announced that they are launching G17, G19 and G22 Gen 3 models with RTF2 grips. The G17 and G22 pistols will also have a standard or scalloped slide serration options. The reason they are offering these versions of their pistols is the huge demand from the fans of the brand. This will be a limited time and quantity offer. Glock also stated that the scalloped serration versions are also California compliant.

The Austrian fantastic plastic handgun Glock has won a contract to supply pistols to the Philippine Department of National Defense, which will supply the new handguns to the Philippine armed forces. The contract award is for the supply of 74,861 Glock 17 Gen 4 handguns, which will be used by all branches of the Philippine military.

Finally, the firearms industry’s best-worst kept secret is now official. We no longer have to use hushed voices or sneak into the shadows to discuss finger grooves and ambidextrous slide release stop levers (ok, I never did either of those things). The Gen5 GLOCK pistols are set to be released publicly in both G17 and G19 models in a matter of days. And by some devine blessing from the 9mm gods, TFB is lucky enough to have two sets of the new handguns for review.

Yes, it’s real. The hotly anticipated fifth generation of GLOCK pistols is set to become publicly available in a matter of days. For die hard fans like myself, most of the features of the new Gen5 G17 and G19 models will come as little surprise – they are all found on the heavily reported ‘M’ line of government contract pistols we have all seen ad naseum over the past year. So, if you are on the edge of your seat, waiting for a ultra-dramatic reveal of a carbine, single stack G19 or a G43-sized .40S&W, you are just going to have to simmer down and adjust your expectations.

Glock isn’t done yet: Despite being passed over by the Army and having their protest of the MHS contract rejected by the GAO, Glock is still hoping for a chance. In a recent interview with Matthew Cox of Military.com, Glock Vice President Josh Dorsey spoke out against the Army’s decision to adopt the SIG Sauer P320 as the new M17 Modular Handgun System.
