Federal Premium has gone live with an online ballistics calculator for both Federal’s factory loads and your custom hand-loads. The calculator works for both rifle and handgun. If you make an account with Federal, the calculator can store all your custom loads. Federal explains its capabilities best:

Federal announced the introduction of two new 3″ shotgun loads in the Vital Shok line using the TruBall slugs.  One load is in 12 gauge, while the second is for the 20 gauge.  A one ounce TruBall slug is used in the 12 gauge version, while a 3/4 ounce slug is used in the 20 gauge.

Federal has added a 12 gauge low-recoil load to their  Top Gun Target range of ammunition.

The lucky folks at  Modern Pawn and Guns, Corpus Christi TX, seems to consistently get hold of new guns before anyone else. They managed to get hold of the much anticipated LWRC Six8 UCIW Rifle, the new Magpul 6.8mm SPC PMAG and the new Federal/ATK XM6.8GD 90 grain Gold Dot ammunition.

A new public hunting area located a few minutes away from ATK’s Federal Premium factory has been named after the company.

Federal Ammunition has produced a video comparing four hunting bullets, the Nosler Ballistic Tip, Sierra GameKing, Barnes Triple-Shock X-Bullet and Trophy Bonded Tip Bullet. They captured the impacts of the bullets a variety of ballistic gels using a high speed camera. The video is somewhat drawn out and could be half as long, but is interesting nonetheless. The testing begins at 4:40 minutes into the video.

A few days ago Remington announced their line of 12 Gauge HD Ultimate Home Defense Shotshells. What intrigues me is that these shells are not loaded with buckshot, but with bird shot.

SayUncle reports that Alliant Techsystems are laying off workers for the second time from their Federal Cartridge Ammunition plant in Anoka. Apparently their order backlog is at an end.
