Announced earlier this year, Federal is now shipping all three new target loads in its American Eagle line of ammunition. The new loads cover these calibers: 300 BLK, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 Grendel.

The United States government has won a major firearms-related victory in Federal appeals court today, regarding claims of patent infringement by Liberty Ammunition, LLC. Liberty had claimed that the US Army’s M855A1 EPR and M80A1 EPR projectiles infringed on its patent, US 7,748,325 for a multi-piece construction projectile. The claims court this case was submitted to ruled in favor of Liberty, but today that decision has been overturned by the Federal appeals court, which is the “final word” on the case (unless it somehow gets taken to the Supreme Court, an unlikely event).

The Glock 43 and other single-stack “micro” 9mm handguns are all the rage, and for good reason. They are small, concealable, and pack a pretty good punch all things considered. Even our own James Reeves loves his Kahr handguns and yours truly typically carries a 9mm Glock 43 on a daily basis.

Federal Premium Ammunition (aka Federal) announced a new product offering was now shipping. Called the HST Practice & Defend Combo Packs, these boxes contain both HST self defense rounds and American Eagle FMJ loads.

Federal Premium ammunition announced on their website Monday, March 28th that they will be producing varmint and predator bulk packs under their American Eagle line of ammunition. The American Eagle bulk packs will be shipping out to retailers immediately in sizes of 40- and 50-count. The calibers that are initially being offered are entirely centerfire. The smallest calibers shipping out are .17 and .22 Hornet which are topped off with a Varmint Tip. The other calibers being offered are .223 Rem, .22-250 Rem, .243 Win, and .308 Win which feature a Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP).

The 6.8 SPC is a relatively young cartridge with a bit over a decade under its belt – or its case, as the case may be. But it’s seen a recent spike in use both among sport shooters and hunters, so it only makes sense manufacturers would continue to expand their available lines. New for 2016 from nearly century-old Federal, an addition to their Fusion line: 6.8 SPC 90 grain.

Federal Premium is now shipping the new .380 ACP load in the HST line. This load uses the HST design bullet that has gained significant popularity in the law enforcement and personal protection markets. The cases are nickel plated and bullets weigh 99 grains.

Announced at the 2015 SHOT Show, the new Vital-Shok High Density buckshot from Federal Premium is now shipping to distributors.

Federal Premium Ammunition announced the addition of the 17 Winchester Super Magnum to the American Eagle line of ammo. The new 17 WSM load uses a 20 grain, polymer tipped varmint bullet.

Federal Premium unveiled a number of new rifle loads at the 2015 SHOT Show. One of those is a new 30-30 loading.

The .380 ACP has been on the market since 1908, and over the years there have been some interesting creations based on the diminutive cartridge. After all, who can forget Defense Distributed’s 3D printed, single-shot pistol, the Liberator, which was, of course, chambered in .380 ACP. And for those who think the cartridge is only for pistols, it’s not; there are submachine guns in this caliber such as the Ingram MAC 11.

Preppers may want to pay attention: Federal has gone live with nitrogen-purged “fresh-fire” packs for 5.56 rounds. Federal is packaging 30 rounds (coincidentally ideal for most standard-capacity magazines) of 5.56 in (very) long-term storable containers. The “Fresh Fire” packs ( also shipping in .22LR) are purged and then completely sealed in corrosion-resistant packaging.
