Max Venom Announces MXP-DW Glock PDW-Style Conversion Device

Those of you who are knife fans as well as firearms enthusiasts may recognize Max Venom primarily as a blade brand. Over the last decade or so, Max Venom has developed a number of edged weapon designs, as well as some other products like impact weapons. What you may not know is that they have also dipped a toe into the gun world on occasion. They had a hand in the early development of what later evolved into the FAB Defense KPOS chassis and attempted to launch the FFD “Fast Fire Device” for Glocks, as TFB reported in 2018. Now Max Venom introduces a new minimalist take on the handgun/PDW conversion idea. Meet the MXP-DW.

Converting Ruger American Ranch Rifles To Accept AK Magazines

If you’ve been eyeing the Ruger American Ranch rifles, specifically the ones chambered in 7.62x39mm, you’ve probably noticed that Ruger opted to use their own proprietary magazine from the Mini-30 rifle. While no one seems to be complaining about reliability with the Mini-30 magazine, there have been complaints online that AK pattern magazines aren’t an option for owners of the Ruger American Ranch rifles. One man, Mr. Brandenburg, has begun to offer his services in converting the Ruger American Ranch rifles to accept AK magazines.

SIG Sauer Introduces "X-Change Kit" for P365 Pistols

When SIG Sauer released the original P365, it quickly became a hit. It made TFB’s “Prancer’s Perfect Pistols” list for Christmas 2018, it earned Reader’s Choice honors in 2019, it was listed as a “Best Summer Carry Gun”, and James “Sky’s Out Thighs Out” Reeves declared it a game-changer in his “Guns of the Decade” list, among a host of other accolades. Today SIG advertises their P365 series as “America’s #1 Selling Handgun”. The SAS version followed the original, and given the smaller P365’s success, many pistoleers cheered when SIG came out with its big brother: the aptly-named P365XL.

FK BRNO's New Multi-Caliber Version Of 7.5FK Field Pistol, The PSD

Soldier Systems reported that FK BRNO has developed a polymer framed, multi-caliber version of their Field Pistol, which they unveiled at the IWA 2019 show in Germany. The standard 7.5mmFK model has a steel frame, but TFB’s Rusty reported during SHOT 2019, the company wanted to reduce weight and cost by offering a polymer version. With that new development, comes the ability to switch between 7.5FK, 9mm and 10mm calibers. FK BRNO’s new version is called the PSD Pistol.

The Oddest M249 SAW You'll Ever See

In fact, it isn’t an M249 SAW at all.  It looks like a SAW, probably sounds like a SAW when fired, operates similarly to a SAW, but it isn’t one. What you are actually looking at is an RPD derivative that has been externally modified to fit the overall external profile of an M249 SAW light machine gun. The photographs were posted by the Instagram user Akalphonso who spotted them in use by an Iraqi Shi’a militia group named سرايا السلام‎/Sarea-Al-Salaam, or “Peace Companies” in English. The group is an organized self-defence force that was created at the height of the Daesh resurgence in Iraq and Syria, to protect vulnerable Shi’a communities in Iraq. Looking through the social media of the group, one sees numerous other small arms modifications that were done to make the weapons “look” like more effective small arms that they actually aren’t. One particularly gruesome example is of a PSL rifle that has been configured to “look” like a PKM GPMG from afar, complete with an M249 200 round plastic drum “attached” to the magazine well and the belt draped over the receiver of the rifle. This sort of practice has been going on in Iraq for some time, previously even among actual Iraqi special operations forces with Mad Bull airsoft replicas.

Swiss K31 lives on through the TW-73!

Most small arms development is seen as being forward thinking, with new designs leaving the older ones in the dust. But for some, the complete opposite is the case (such as the FNC and SCAR). In this example modern day riot police in Switzerland are using chopped K31 straight pull rifles converted to fire tear gas grenades or rubber bullets against uncooperative protesters. The designation is Trnengas Werfer 73 ( Tear Gas Thrower), or TW-73 for short among the police that utilize it. It is also designated as the Mehrzweckwerfer (General Purpose Thrower) MZW 73/91.

Do It (Kind Of) Yourself: HK G36 Rifle

H&K has never made a true G36 rifle available to civilians in the USA mostly due to import regulations and what I assume would be a lack of demand (lets face it, your average consumer is happy with one of the many AR variants that have taken over the semi-automatic 5.56 rifle market). However in the 90’s to comply with the 1989 import ban on foreign “assault weapons” and the now expired 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, H&K came up with an idea to market a new sporting rifle known as the SL8 that was a cousin of the G36. The rifle functioned via the same operating system but looked a whole lot less scary and a whole lot more like an old IBM computer keyboard:
