Saab Secures US AT4 and Carl Gustaf Ammunition Order

Saab have been awarded a fresh order for AT4 anti-armor systems and ammunition for the Carl Gustaf Multi-purpose Anti-armor Anti-personnel Weapon System (MAAWS) worth $105 million. These systems will be utilised by the US Army, US Special Operations Command and the US Marine Corps. Building on earlier orders as part of an ‘indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity’ contract originally awarded in 2019, the latest order is for the AT4 Confined Space, Reduced Sensitivity variant of the AT4.

US Department of Defense Orders AT4s and Carl Gustaf Ammunition

The US Department of Defense has ordered over $80 million worth of Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle ammunition and shoulder-launched AT4CS RS (confined space and reduced sensitivity) anti-armour weapon systems. The order was made within a 2019 Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract. The AT4CS RS variant was first procured back in 2015. The ammunition and weapons will be used by the U.S. Army, U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and U.S. Marine Corps.

Indian Contract for SAAB – AT4 Support Weapon

The single-shot, disposable, recoilless smoothbore 84 mm anti-tank weapon AT4 made by SAAB has a new customer on the list. The Indian Armed Forces have ordered an unknown amount of the model AT4CS AST, to be used by the Indian Army and Indian Air Force. In total, more than 1 million AT4’s have been produced.

Saab to Supply $100M Worth of Carl Gustaf Ammo & AT4 Systems to US Army

The US Army has awarded a $100 million contract to Saab for Carl Gustaf ammunition and AT4 recoilless Rifle systems which will supply the USMC and JSOC. This contract is an “indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity” (IDIQ) contract. This essentially means that all three entities can buy more than $400 million worth of the systems and ammunition during a 5 year period.
