TFB Review: Arsenal 7.62×39 Ammo from American Marksman

Earlier this year American Marksman informed me they were importing Arsenal 7.62×39 from Bulgaria. In the wake of the Russian ammo import ban, this was music to my ears.  So in the midst of a great steel-cased ammo drought, American Marksman was kind enough to send over a couple hundred rounds of this freshly minted Bulgarian ammo for testing.

Unobtanium Guns That I Wish Weren't So Hard to Get

If you’re a firearms enthusiast (as it’s likely that most people reading TFB are), you probably have a list of guns you want. Unless you’re one of the fortunate few to have an arsenal rivaling Heckler and Koch‘s Gray Room, the Rock Island Arsenal Museum, the NRA’s Whittington Center, or this guy that Nick met at a match several years ago, budget and availability are often limiting factors for new gun purchases. Of course, some guns are harder to get than others. Manufacturing runs and timeframes, frustrating legislation, importation challenges, the ravages of time, and a host of other factors can have a significant effect on the availability, accessibility, and price of various guns. The hardest pieces to procure are sometimes referred to as “unobtanium guns”, with the term being a sort of colloquial reference to these firearms’ difficulty (or sometimes impossibility) for us to acquire. Today we’ll explore a handful of the unobtanium weapons on my personal wish list, by no means comprehensive and in no particular order. I’m pretty sure that more than a few of you will find some commonality between my list and yours.

The second most famous creation of Michail Kalashnikov, general-purpose Kalashnikov machine gun, had a multitude of names over the last 50 years: PK, PKM, M84 in former Yugoslavia, Konekivaari KK PKM in Finland. In some southern regions of Russia, where shooting at weddings is a mandatory part of the celebration, PKM is semi-officially called “the Handsome One”. New versions of this weapon still emerge all around the world, and several years ago Arsenal Bulgaria presented its own version called  MG-M2.

Relocating the Kabul Arsenal

To be quite honest, the old Kabul Arsenal never needed to be “relocated” as it had never been lost, destroyed, or otherwise essentially altered. What this post is adding to the conversation is that someone who had a very legitimate interest in the arsenal bothered to snoop around present-day Kabul with the intention of historical small arms research. And to that end, many of the outer portions of the arsenal are still very much standing.

Last Night Of Hanukkah At TFB – Rifle Silencers

Even though today is officially the tenth day of TFB Christmas, I wanted to make sure to recognize the last night of Hanukkah for our Jewish readers and shooters around the world. Instead, today is arbitrarily all about Rifle Silencers.
