I have often though that the Kickstarter crowd funding revolution would work well for small companies or individuals in the gun industry. Damien Gibb, the man behind Project Titan, is looking for funding to continue his project to completion.

NEMO Arms made a .308 AR-10-style rifle out of titanium. The upper, lower, handguard, buffer tube, gas block and compensator are all titanium. They are selling the [TI]ONE for $95,904.

The New Zealand Army has adopted the Lewis Machine & Tool LMT .308 AR-10 rifle as their Designated Marksman Rifle. Last year British Army also adopted the LMT 308 as a designated marksman rifle.

Later this year DoubleStar will be introducing a .308/7.62mm NATO chambered AR-style rifle to the market. The below photos are of a prototype. The prototype is so new that it was not available to DobleStar’s SHOT Show staff when they were setting up the booth. It arrived during the SHOT Show week. The booth staff were not able to tell me how much it will cost or when it will go on sale.

This time last year Bushmaster introduced the Bushmaster .308 ORC, an entry level AR-10-style rifle chambered in .308. This year they have expanded the .308 line and added the Bushmaster MOE.308 Mid-length (fitted with Magpul Original Equipment). Also added is the .308 Hunter and .308 Vista Hunter (in camo).

New for DPMS for 2011 is the Panther REPR (or Rapid Engagement Precision Rifle) chambered in .308 Win. 7.62mm NATO.

Armalite is once again selling the AR-10(T) Carbine. This .308-chambered gun has been designed to be light and compact for hog hunting. It features a short 16″ stainless steel barrel.

Last month Bushmaster was awarded a patent (#7810271) for an AR-15 (or AR-10) compatible modular rifle system. The patent proposes using a mag well that can be removed from the lower receiver. The mag well could be any conceivable length in order to accommodate special upper receivers. In theory, cartridges as big as the a .338 Lapua could be used with this system.

The Armalite AR-10 is now available chambered in .260 Remington.

David Crane of DefenseReview has confirmed the existence of the Colt CM901 (7.62mm Battle Rifle) whose existence was first revealed by Solider Systems a few days ago.
