[ARMY-2017] Other Kalashnikov Concern News: AK-12K and AK-15K, Airsoft Guns, Scopes, Boats and Bikes
As you can see from our recent articles, Kalashnikov Concern has introduced a number of new products during the ARMY-2017 exhibition. Besides the firearms which we wrote about in separate articles, there were many other new products that are either not entirely small arms related or are prototypes with a very little information available about. Many of them won’t “qualify” for a separate article, that’s why I’ve decided to combine them in this article.
POTD: DIY Gun Rack Display
My friend TC posted this photo of his display. It looks clean and professional. What you are looking at is a DIY weapon display he made. It is just peg board that he painted silver. Fooled me. I thought it was metal sheets with holes. And to top it all off, those are not guns. They are airsoft. Look closely at the magazines.
POTD: GlockFish
Oh Japan, you come up with some of the craziest things. This photo is of a Tokyo Marui Glock hidden inside a fake fish. It would be great if it did nothave the 5.56 belt sticking out of the fish. I suspect that this might be an Electric pistol so it is full auto and does not have a reciprocating slide like a gas blow back gun.
MuzzleSafe: Proximity Locking Device
Saw this on social media. Peter Alaric made a device that uses ultrasonic pulses to detect an object’s distance. It is installed on a Desert Eagle Electric Airsoft pistol. When the sensor is tripped, a relay disengages the battery connections in the pistol. Thereby deactivating the electric pistol.
Hong Kong 3Gun Match
3Gun Nation has started official matches for Airsoft. Say what you will about airsoft, but have a look at this video. Racing is racing and this looks like a fun and challenging sport. It has the spirit of 3gun just without the long distance targets we typically see here in the US.
Hyperdouraku Custom Gun Contest
Hyperdouraku is an Airsoft Gun review blog. They have a custom gun contest and some of the entries are pretty cool. Now before we get into Airsoft is not Firearms, we do talk about airguns on occasion. So set that aside and appreciate some of the cool and ridiculous builds the Japanese have come up with. If you want to check out the entire list of entries, click this link.
Pictures of Chris Costa in Japan
If you didn’t see the Chris Costa Japanese airsoft AR-15 catwalk video then head over to this earlier post, but here are some pictures from Costa’s event in Japan.
Reality vs Imagination
Gun Nuts Media posted an interesting article. Caleb Giddings wrote about how he sets up his guns in real life and that he follows the same ideology when setting up his guns in the virtual world via a video game.
M82 Airsoft Gun Uses and Ejects Co2 Cartridges Instead of Brass
The folks at Madbull Airsoft have designed a nifty Barrett M82 airsoft gun that feeds and ejects Co2 cartridges after each shot. Watch the video below:
KRISS Vector Right Hand Magazine Release
Necessity is the mother of invention. Last year, when I was living in NY state, I figured out that I could use my KRISS Vector faster if I could release the magazine with my right hand. We were only allowed 10 rd magazines so reloading was crucial to action pistol caliber matches at my club. I had been shooting my Vector Carbine like an AR and using an extended thumb over bore grip with my left hand. The KRISS Vector magazine is a Glock 21, so the magazine catch is also a Glock design. I would have to release my left hand, move to the magwell, press the mag release and then go for a fresh mag. I then developed a magazine release lever that is mounted to the right side of the weapon. It makes reloads much faster.
